Hi I'm Jon

I grew up in Orlando, Fl. I am currently in the Air Force and live in California with my wife and my two dogs.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my wife and my two dogs. We love to exercise and look for adventures together. My wife and I are starting to do more crafts lately. It's been a lot of fun. I enjoy practicing and performing magic tricks. I specialize in sleight of hand tricks and street magic... mainly card magic. It's a lot of fun and we all enjoy it. I've completed three marathons and am debating if I should run a fourth or not. We are expecting our first child in December and we couldn't be more excited. I know they say that you can never be ready for a baby, but we're trying out best. We've been getting the house all "baby-proof"-- (if there even is such a thing!)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I know that They have a plan for every one, especially me. In the New Testament book of St James, chapter 1 verse 5, it recommends anyone who has a lack of wisdom (pretty much everyone, I think) to ask God the Father what they need help with. I asked my Father in Heaven about things I should do in life. I know that the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) testified to my soul that I should join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is the true church of Jesus Christ found on the earth today. Many other faiths teach of Christ and about Hid doctrine; however, I found as I was investigating them, each had something missing. When I came to understand the teaching of the LDS church, I felt whole. I felt complete and that everything made sense.

How I live my faith

I volunteer a lot with the youth of the local congregation. I am the Assistant Scoutmaster, which provides me many opportunities to teach the young men of the church. I can teach them many skills that will benefit them in life. I also volunteer to teach lessons to a group of youth on Sundays. We have weekly lessons, very similiar to a sunday school or bible study group. This way, I am able to teach them spiritual things that will benefit them throughout life.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jon
Yes, we believe the Bible to be the word of God and we regard the Bible as Holy Scripture. We know that God spoke to His Holy Prophets in times of old, just as we know that He speaks today. When the Prophet reveals the Word of God, it is Scripture. The Bible has been translated many times over again and through that process, we believe that it has lost some of the simple truths. When the Bible is translated correctly, we believe it to be the word of God. Show more Show less
