Hi I'm Tyler

I dream of traveling the world. I love good music, good friends, and home-cooked meals. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to college, but I'm close to graduating. I enjoy learning new things and I'm most interested in finding out why the world works the way it does. Though I'm studying international politics and economics, I secretly love watching science and astronomy documentaries, playing the violin, and seeing historical sights. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, even if that just means watching a movie or eating dinner together. I grew up in a small town and I loved the view of the mountains from my back porch. I have however loved going to the big cities and seeing the sights and attractions, including some great musicals, museums, and parks.

Why I am a Mormon

There are two main reasons why I am a Mormon. First, as I read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other scriptures, I feel in my heart that the teachings Jesus Christ taught are true. This doesn't have to happen every time I open the scriptures, but as I have read the scriptures these undeniable, somewhat indescribable feelings have come. As I learn about Jesus Christ, I feel that what is written about Him in scripture is true, which means that He really was the Son of God, He really lived a perfect life, and He really has the power to free us from guilt and right every wrong. Many of these wonderful experiences I have had have come as I read the Book of Mormon and that book has come to make a great difference in my life. Second, as I live according to what I learn, meaning that I obey the laws and commandments that Jesus Christ gave, my live is more satisfying. I may still have hard times, but God wants us to be happy and to be prepared to overcome the obstacles that are bound to come as a part of life. When I do what Jesus Christ has asked, the obstacles are a little less daunting and life is a little sweeter. I believe that the Mormon Church is lead by Jesus Christ through people that He has chosen, so as I seek to follow what I am taught in church and by church leaders, that is when I feel closer to God and more peaceful in life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to do what Jesus Christ would do each day. I try to follow His example and I learn a lot about Jesus Christ by observing what others do. Right now I work with the leader of our congregation and I see him working hard to help things run smoothly during our church services, but also working hard to make sure the people in the congregation feel loved, appreciated, and needed. I feel that this is what Jesus Christ did when He lived on the earth, making the lives of those around Him better and I try to do the same. I think a compliment, a smile, a nice gesture, or somebody sitting next to you can go a long way. As well, I live my faith by thinking about and discussing spiritual things. It may be a small thing, but as I talk to friends or family about what I've learned spiritually or how I've experienced little miracles in my life, my happiness grows. Learning about and sharing spiritual things makes the little annoyances in life a lot less troublesome. The more that I put my mind on things that are spiritual, the clearer I seem to think even for those other things that come up like work, school, and other responsibilities. I become happier and more fulfilled as I live my faith.
