Hi I'm Heidi

I grew up in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I love to travel and serve people. I love to learn, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate from Brigham Young University- Idaho in University Studies. I have been married for about a year and a half and am a new mother to a baby boy, Uriah. I am just like everyone else, with interests pleasures. I am someone who just enjoys the simple things in life. I love trying new things and facing new challenges. I absolutely love to travel. After serving a mission for our church in California, serving the Spanish community, we took a trip down the Central America and learned to live like the locals. I grew to love the people and have a hunger for traveling and really understanding others.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this faith, but I remember the moment when I found out for myself that this was the true and everlasting gospel. I had attended many faiths. My Grandfather is a pastor of a congregation and I had many friends who were of various religions. When I was a teenager, my mother stopped attending, and my parents got a divorce. When my dad moved out, I was the only one in the house that attended church at that time. My dad would come and get me, and I remember being at church one Sunday sitting with my friends. I was pondering why I was there when I felt strongly that I wasn't there for the social aspect of church, I was there because I really loved the Savior and I knew that this was His church. Since that moment, I have had many moments like that. I am not here because someone told me to be here, and I am not here to tell you that you have to join. I am here because I pondered and studied the scriptures, I prayed, and I received the confirmation that this is the Lord's church. I want to be close to him. I know that we need the Lord to be able to get through life and that He loves us so much that he continues to lead and guide us through modern day Prophets. I can't tell you enough,, how important this is to me. I know without a shadow of a doubt that He lives, and because He lives, we have a chance to live with Him again someday. I have found that as I heed the council of the Prophet, and the teaching in the scriptures, that I am filled with true joy. I know that in His gospel, we have the keys and authority to make and keep sacred covenants. I know that I cannot deny the blessings and joy I have been given as I choose to follow Him. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

We just moved here to North Carolina, from Rexburg Idaho. While out in Idaho, my husband and I served in the Primary, church is an organization in our church for the children from the ages of 4-11. We had the opportunity to teach the new 4 year olds about the Savior and his gospel. It was a neat experience to be able to teach children but also be taught by them. I also have the opportunity here as well as when I was in Idaho to visit other women of the congregation. This is called visiting teaching where we, as women, visit and support each other as women in the gospel.
