Hi I'm Shelly.

I'm from sunny California and I'm LDS.

About Me

I love to read, play sports, and watch movies with friends. I studied biology in college and now I am thinking about studying public administration in graduate school. I love to travel and one of my dreams is to see Africa.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member but I have continued to practice because of the way it makes me feel to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. God's plan for me puts into perspective the trials and sorrows of life. Their purpose is to prepare me for a truly fulfilling and satisfying level of happiness that comes when I have made my own choices. That's my favorite thing about being Mormon, the fact that I get to choose every step of the way.

How I live my faith

As I have studied the life of Jesus Christ, I have been uplifted by the way He interacted with others. I sleep, eat, and work like anyone else, but I've made it a goal to be more patient and understanding, just as the Savior was. We are all different but each person deserves respect. It doesn't matter if it's my family, my friends, my coworkers, or the cashier at the grocery store, I really try to be a positive influence by what I say and do. One easy thing that I've found that helps me in this direction is holding a door open for others while I exit/enter. It's a simple gesture but I find that it conveys respect. I am a people person. At church I teach the adults in Sunday School and it's so much better when I am familiar with the people I am teaching. I love to learn and hearing the experiences and ideas of others inspires me.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes. We believe that the Holy Bible is a scriptural record of God's dealings with His children in the Old World. In addition, we believe in other books of scripture, not to take away from the spirituality and depth of the Bible, but to reinforce and to witness to the divinity of Jesus Christ. God was not just active in the lives of the people in the Bible - He is active in the lives of all who hear and accept His gospel. Show more Show less
