Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a math guy. I like Disneyland. I love playing with my family. I want to teach physics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to college for one year, and I was studying physics. I love to see how the world is put together I hope that one day I'll be able to be a physics professor, but you know how plans change as time goes on. I play the saxophone and piano, and I love to jam! I was on the debate team in high school, too.  One of my favorite places in the world is Disneyland. My family and I went there a lot when I was little, so it has a lot of memories for me. I walk through it and think, this is where my brother and I did this, or here's where I got to make this memory with my sister. My parents did a wonderful job of giving us family experiences, and Disneyland is a place that holds a lot of those memories for me.

Why I am a Mormon

As I was growing up, I went to church with my parents like a lot of kids do. I started reading my scriptures, and as I read, I was touched. I was 10 and started crying! I was thinking, "Boys don't cry! What's wrong with me?" I went to my parent's room and asked them why. My Mom told me, "Ty, that's the Spirit." A few years later, I was thinking about a friend I had. His name was Justin, and I wanted him to start coming to church activities with me. I thought to myself, "If I'm going to invite Justin, I have to know that this church is true on my own." I knelt down by the family computer and asked God if this was his church. I felt love and happiness. It started in my stomach and spread down to my toes and out to my fingertips. The most remarkable part, though, is that I knew where it came from. It wasn't just a feeling: it was God's telling me, "Tyler, this is mine."

How I live my faith

I try to show my devotion to the Lord in everything I do. I don't just aim for doing good. My goal is to change each day so that I can get better! If I've fought with my little brother, I've got something to fix. If I let someone feel friendless, I've got something to change. I try to improve it all and be like Christ. Right now, I'm a missionary for the church. I'm serving near Houston, TX, and I love the people here. I spend my time teaching about how I found out what God wanted for me. I love teaching like this. It makes me feel so close to my Heavenly Father.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Tyler
My cousin Rheese died this last March. He was about 12, but one day, he collapsed at school. When I found out, I was in shock. We hadn't known anything was wrong. As you can imagine, it wasn't the happiest time, but my family and I got through we because we know this isn't the end. One day, he's going to be resurrected, and we'll all get to see him in heaven. We can be together forever! Eternal life is getting to live with our Heavenly Father and our families forever. It makes death a lot easier to go through. It's not the end it's an event.  Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Tyler
Thousands of years ago, Jesus Christ walked the Earth. Wouldn't it have been amazing to have been here with him? Unfortunately, we aren't. One of the best things we can do, though, is read the records of his life. The Book of Mormon is a record of part of his ministry from after his resurrection. It teaches about his purpose, his love, and his support. It teaches us how to come closer to him.  It tells about prophets and has lots of stories of hope, just like the Bible. It teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, and helps us to understand our purpose here on Earth. Show more Show less
