Hi I'm Lorne

Family History Consultant for Inlet View Ward, Anchorage Alaska North Stake

About Me

After searching for quite sometime for answers to many questions as to my purpose for being here, I came to know a true friend who went a little bit out of her comfort zone to be a good friend to me and introduce me to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to his priesthood authority. Therefore, I studied the scriptures carefully and found that families can be together forever, through priesthood ordinances that are performed in the Lord's temples... I was baptized in late spring of 1990... by living the gospel I have gained a testimony of the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church because I found out that it was the Lord's Church on the Earth and that through this Church, there is Priesthood authority to perform all of the essential ordinances for our getting back to our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

By studying the scriptures, praying for an understanding the principles that are taught in the scriptures, and by applying the principles that are taught in the scriptures, I am about the Lord's business on seeking out the honest in heart (both on Earth and those who use to live on the Earth), and providing them with the opportunity to follow our master, Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. However, we revere the service that he performed for us in being an instrument in the hands of God in opening up this last dispensation, even the Fullness of times. He sealed his testimony with his own blood, and no man can ever take his testimony away from him. He currently serves a mission for those who have lived on the Earth. Many of these departed spirits are now waiting for their ordinance work to get done for them so that they may enjoy eternal life with their families and friends. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

The clergy who work for the Lord's church perform their duties out of love for the people, not for the aggrandizement of themselves or for anything that the world may have to offer them. However, the are honorable men who are normal people who perform honorable service for their communities. They do not put themselves any higher than anyone else because of their callings. Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

When we came to this world, our mission was to prepare ourselves to meet our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. This meant that we needed to learn the principles that are fundamental in becoming even as our Heavenly parents by learning to work effectively. While none of us are superman or superwoman, the pathway to becoming like our Heavenly parents requires us to prepare ourselves accordingly and perform the kinds of activities that lead to prosperity. Therefore, as we learn these principles we develop meaningful relationships with those around us and are better able to hold down meaningful employment, get a good education and develop meaningful relationships with our family and friends. What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead who does not possess a body, but is present in places that are not defiled by mankind. Everyone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been confirmed a member of that Church and has been told to receive the Holy Ghost a portion of that member of the Godhead.
