Hi I'm Kevin

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon).

About Me

I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. Although I believed in Christ , I was an inactive Protestant until I turned about 14 years old. At that time I became very interested in Christ and wanted to know if He truly was the Son of God. I soon thereafter became acquainted with the Church in my 15th year. I joined the Church a month before my 16th birthday. When I was 19 years old I served a mission for the Church in Argentina from 1973-1975. I currently live in the state of Utah in the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church when I realized that it was true. The Gospel is real, and Heavenly Father revealed to me through the Holy Ghost that not only is Jesus Christ His Only Begotten Son, but that this is also His Church. For me the Church answers all of my questions. I have heard many arguments against the gospel, but they make no sense to me, while God's plan is the only thing I have found that makes complete sense. It fulfills all the desires of humankind. It explains where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going after this life. It is Love, Joy, and Comfort. That is why I am a member of the Church.

How I live my faith

I pray, attend Church meetings, read the scriptures, and strive to fulfill my duties in the Church. I try to live the teachings of the Gospel, share the message of the Restoration, and treat others with love and respect. The Church has given me peace and allowed me to endure the trials of my life. The Lord continues to comfort me. I know that I will always know that the Lord lives and that this is His Church. He loves all of His children, but this is the organization He set up to direct His people. All who come to Him He accepts with open arms.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I do. You must remember that although Moses was a great prophet, he was a man. God calls men to be prophets. That is the way it has always been from the beginning. After Christ's ascension, the apostles filled the vacancy left by Judas. It was their intent that those positions continue. The early Christians knew that the members of the Church of Jesus Christ were called Saints and that they were led by prophets. Indeed the early Church was "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone." Ephesians 2:20 A living prophet helps us to know what the Lord wants us to do right now, in our time, just as the ancients also needed to know in their time. Without Moses to lead them as a living prophet, would the Children of Israel have been led out of Egypt? They followed the prophet, and that is what we do today. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Latter-day Saints (often called LDS) are sometimes called Mormons because we accept as scripture, not only the Holy Bible, but also the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is an abridgment of many ancient records and covers the years between 600 B.C. and 421 A.D. (It also contains a brief account of another people who lived on the American continent much earlier). The words of the book were written mainly by prophets of God who lived on the American continent. The prophet who abridged the book was named Mormon, hence the book's name. These people were descendants of Jacob, through his son Joseph. There are several references to the Book of Mormon in the Bible, which you can find by accessing the LDS Church website. The Book of Mormon contains many simple truths of the Gospel. It also contains the account of Christ's visit to the Americas (His other Sheep, John 10:16) after His resurrection as well as His teachings to them. The Book of Mormon contains the promise that if we read and study the book and then ask God if it is true, He will give you the answer. The ansawer is "It is true!" But don't believe me, ask Him yourself. He is a God of Love and will answer your prayer and tell you the truth. He wants you to know the truth. But to find Him, we must seek Him. That you may seek and find Him is my prayer. Show more Show less
