Hi I'm Jason.

I am a husband, father, professor and scientist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California with loving parents and great siblings. I went to college in Southern California to study science and engineering, and after a two-year mission to Brazil, I met a beautiful girl who was studying music at the university. We were married, and shortly afterwards we graduated from college. I continued my education with graduate degrees in science and engineering and now do research and teach at a university in the beautiful, historic Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. I have a great life, and although there have certainly been significant challenges, my faith has given me a perspective to see what is good and wonderful in life, and a hope for a joy-filled life with my family through the eternities.

Why I am a Mormon

Jesus Christ taught that we "shall know them by their fruits". I have seen the fruits of my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints...an eternal perspective during difficult times, a joy in knowing that life will continue with my family after death, and a motivation and desire to reach out and serve others. I have felt the Spirit of God as a still, small voice, teaching me that the Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

How I live my faith

I like to think that I live my faith in the small and simple things I do...offering comfort when a work colleague has lost a loved one, trying (really!) hard to be patient with a child who is simply learning how to make good choices. i think those day-to-day acts really define a person. We are surrounded by people in all stages of life, single, widowed, large families, small families, families with only one parent. These are the types of people that make up my extended family and friends in my community. The Gospel provides a perspective for how to live our faith regardless of our personal circumstances. I think how we love those around us really defines how we are "living" our faith.

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely. We believe Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. We believe that His life is an example for us to follow in how we treat others and in how we build a relationship with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No one is "required" to serve a mission. All young men are "called" or asked to serve a mission when they turn 19 years old. All young women are also invited to serve as they feel inspired to do so. Personally, my mission was an incredible and enriching experience. I like to think that going and serving was the second best decision I made in my life (after marrying my wife!). Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes! I think the opportunity of living with my wife and children, even after we have died, is such a beautiful principle! I feel God's love in knowing that the love and joy I enjoy with my family is something I can enjoy forever. Show more Show less
