Hi I'm Angie

I was born in South Africa, grew up in Canada and I now live in the USA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a sophmore in University studying History. I hope to become a librarian one day. I love to dance, read, snowboard, swim, and listen to music. I love my family more than anything and I have been very blessed in my life to travel and see a lot of the world.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was 3 years old. I have always had a very open household - we were never forced to go to church, it was our decision. When I was about 14 years old I knew I needed to make up my own mind about whether or not the church was true. I knelt down and prayed, and asked my Heavenly Father to tell me what to do. I can honesly say that He answered me, and it was clear that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. Since then I've had many opportunities to pray about different aspects of my faith. The answers don't always come right away, but they always come. I know have a firm knowledge in the truthfulness of Christ's gospel.

How I live my faith

I enjoy going to church every Sunday, but not just for the social aspect. I love having the day to think about my week, and especially about my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I have served in the church among the youth, whether it's camping or special events as well as with the women in the church. I also served a mission for the church in Eastern Canada for 18 months. That was without a doubt the best time of my life.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Angie
The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is a record of a Prophet named Lehi and his family from Jerusalem who are commanded by God to flee just before the city is destroyed. They travel by vessel to the American continent and begin large civilizations there. They bring with them records of writings from what is now the Old Testament so they can teach their children about God. Just as in Jerusalem God calls prophets throughout time on the American continent. The climax of the Book of Mormon is the appearance of the Resurrected Christ to the people in ancient America. He teaches and blesses them, just as his other disciples in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon was written to testify of Christ and His divinity, and to work together with the Bible to help us understand our purpose here on earth and how we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. But we don't expect anyone to take our word for it - at the end of the Book of Mormon a promise is given. Anyone who reads from the Book of Mormon and then prays in faith will receive an answer as to whether or not it is true. I have done this for myself and I have a testimony that it is true, and I encourage you to do the same. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Angie
You may be surprised to learn that many of your friends and acquiantances are Mormon. Mormons are very much like all other people. We participate in the community, go to movies, eat out, spend time with family and friends, and are in general fairly average people. We do, however, spend a lot of our time devoted to serving others - whether it is in our community, in our church services each week, or in our own families. True, there are some activities you won't see active members of the Mormon faith participate in - but you won't know until you ask, and members of the church love to be asked questions about their faith.
