Hi I'm Keith West

I grew up in the East Valley, Arizona. I have been a Mormon all my life.

About Me

I live in the White Mountains in Northeastern Arizona. I have been married 15 years and have four children 3 girls and 1boy. I love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. I work in the dental field. I attended college at Arizona State University and OHSU Dental School. I lived as a child in Texas, Oregon, and Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church all my life. My mother grew up in Texas as a Southern Baptist and my father was a member of this church. Yet, my father was not an active participating member. When my parents started their family, they desired to search out a faith. Through much prayer and pondering, they received an answer from God that this is His church...that families are very important. Once they learned that very important fact, they decided to have more children. I am a result of that. I owe my life to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Even though I grew up in the church, I had a strong desire to know for myself that this is the correct church God has established on the earth. I too have prayed and pondered about the teachings I have learned. The strongest impressions and feelings of love and joy filled my heart. I feel these same feelings every time our church leaders share their messages with us. I share my testimony and knowledge that we are led by a prophet of God, that indeed miracles have not ceased, and revelation is not only given to the prophet, but to us as individuals as well. The church teaches us that we are literal spirit offspring of Heavenly Father and by this, we can inherit all the father has if we live worthy. No other teaching I have heard can answer all my deepest questions. That is why I am a Mormon. I am a "Mormon Boy".

How I live my faith

At this time, I am currently serving as a Bishop to my ward (congregation). This means that I work with around 300 members of our church in my area. I lead the youth (both young men and young women ages 12-19). I lead the Sunday services together with my two counselors (assistants). Bishops usually serve for a period of 5-6 years. At that time we are "released" from that service and asked to serve in other capacities. This can include working with Sunday School lessons, working with the youth under the age of 12, and even in the Boy Scout troop. We utilize the Boy Scout program a lot to assist our young men to learn appropriate values and life lessons. I love serving the Lord. It is very time consuming, but other then my family, nothing else has brought me more joy and purpose. I will serve the Lord all my days and be grateful for His mercy to me. Our church is a service oriented church. Through charity and service we follow the example of Jesus Christ.
