Hi I'm Theresa

I grew up in Las Vegas. I am a computer software developer. I 'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married and have a daughter. I graduated from college with a Computer Science Undergraduate Degree. I'm a working mom. I really enjoy music, was in band in high school and now I just play my oboe sometimes for fun. I like to play the piano and sing especially for my little girl. She loves to pound on the piano so I encourage her interest in music as much as possible. :) I really enjoy reading, water, and crafts. I love the Harry Potter series, Anne of Green Gables, and recently started getting into the Percy Jackson series. I love swimming and anything to do with playing in water pretty much. I love to learn to do crafts though I can't say that I do any of them well. Finally, my most favorite thing to do of all is spend time with my family because they're so funny and they get me.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love and care about me and that they've asked me to live the commandments while on this earth so that I can be happy and serve and bless everyone around me. I find that the teachings and reminders I have regularly as a Mormon really help me to remember him in my daily life and to continue to motivate me to keep going and to try harder every day to live a good life and to serve others along the way.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and was teaching 4 and 5 year olds about Jesus every week. After having my baby I was recently asked to hold regular activities for the 8 and 9 year old girls at church to serve people around us and to help them to set and accomplish goals specifically to help them learn more about their faith in Jesus Christ.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I don't know. It can sometimes seem like we follow the leaders of our church blindly without question. I think there are probably some people that do. We are taught to pray and find out for ourselves if what we're being asked to do is right and true. I know that for myself I do not follow anyone blindly and I believe each individual has the ability and right and responsibility to find out for themselves by asking God if anything they are being taught or asked to do is true and from Him. Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The Lord reorganized his church by calling a prophet Joseph Smith to setup a church on the earth again with the same organization and priesthood that you can find in the Bible during the time that Jesus Christ lived on the earth. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

They will teach you about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and why they sent us here to earth to live. They will teach you about what happens to us after we die. They will teach you that we can live together with our families forever after this life. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is the word of God and Holy Scripture. As we learn about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father we draw heavily upon the scriptures contained in that book so that we can know them better and learn how to be more like them. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

It is a guideline given to us from the Lord for your health that if followed will help you to be healthy and happy. If you learn more about it I think you will see that it is very similar to the health principles that Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego followed in the old testament which at the end of a trial period showed them to be healthier than the other children that they were being compared to that were following a different diet.
