Hi I'm Nate

I'm 28 years old. I'm applying to grad school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work full time. It's my first job after college and has nothing to do with what I studied. In college I studied philosophy and found it fascinating, but there aren't too many companies that want to hire philosophers. Luckily I had minored in computer science and got a full time position where I had been working during school. I was blessed to find a great job.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family. Some of the people I work with think that growing up a Mormon is the only reason that I'm still a Mormon. But it is much more than growing up. I had to make decisions about what I would do with my life. Studying philosophy made me reevaluate what I believed and tested the beliefs of Mormonism. As I learned more about philosophy I saw more and more how my beliefs made sense. My religious beliefs answered the tough questions that philosophy didn't have answers for. The faith I hold brings me the peace and certainty that I am loved and that I can have hope in the future. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I go to Church every week and enjoy the activities that are put on. It has been an anchor in my life as the times have gotten tough. I try and go to a temple as often as I can to get rest from the pressures of work and trying to keep up with everything in life. I teach Sunday School occasionally and love helping others to know the great things I have learned.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Mormons believe that it is only through Jesus Christ that they can be saved. Our goal is to rid ourselves of sin and become like God. We cannot do this by ourselves and require the grace of Christ to change. He helps us overcome sin and become perfect like God. Show more Show less
