Hi I'm Austin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old, I'm serving a mission in Sweden for the LDS Church, and I love it. I come from Mesa, Arizona and a busy family of 8. Intrinsically inspiring music modulation is my life. I've played guitar for 6 years and dabble in synthesizers from time to time. Family and friends are very important to me and I enjoy spending time with the both. Someday I hope to start a family and live the dream. The most important thing is being happy and at peace with the path of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon since birth. Well, since I was baptized and confirmed at age 8. My parents are Mormon, my grandparents are Mormon, my great-grandparents are Mormon, etc... But this church isn't just a family tradition for me, it's much more. Growing up, I was taught to go to church on Sunday, read the scriptures, and pray. During the "figure out who you are" stage of my life is when much of my personal conversion took place. My goal was to end up on a path that would give me happiness and peace, and I doubted that my childhood faith could do that. Friends and parties became the focus, and prayer and scripture study became less important. Every night, I would lay my head on my pillow and ask myself if what I was doing was really making me happy. I got sick of never being able to honestly answer 'yes'. One night, I realized that I had never taken my search to this church. I began to read the scriptures and pray with a purpose. As soon as I began doing that, I got answers. I learned for myself that this church has the fulness of Christ's gospel, which gospel has brought much happiness and peace into my life. We all make mistakes in this life, and especially I am no exception. Through Christ's gospel, repentance, and the power of His Atonement, my life has been repaired and reconstructed. My testimony is simple, God exists and loves each and every one of us, Jesus Christ is His Son and paved the way for salvation for every individual that has lived or will live, His church has again been restored in our day, Joseph Smith was called to be God's prophet. As a witness that miracles still continue today, we have the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ. I know with all my soul that these things are true, and that the honest seeker of truth will be lead to this great treasure.

How I live my faith

As of now I'm giving up 2 years of my life to share this gospel by serving a mission. But I don't see it as a sacrifice, I see it as an opportunity. All my life I've recieved countless blessings from a loving Father in Heaven, and this is my opportunity to show my gratitude for Him. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple, powerful, and most of all, it's true! Now, I get to share that knowledge and joy with God's children in Sweden.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Austin
Mormon Temples hold a very similar purpose as did the Tabernacle and Temple of Solomon in Old Testament times. Temples are places were we can learn about God and Jesus Christ and their eternal plan for us in this life. Temples are also used as a sacred setting in which we make covenants or promises to our Heavenly Father to show our faith and love for Him and all he does for us. By honoring our covenants, we are blessed in this life and in the life after death. Another sacred ceremony which takes place in Temples is the sealing together of husbands and wives for all eternity. It is a great blessing to have the knowledge that the love that couples share doesn't have to end after this life, but continues and grows stronger after this life. Temples are sometimes looked upon as a secret which is kept from the world, however in reality, we want all people to recieve the blessings that come from the Temple, but as the Temple is the Lord's house, one must be worthy to enter (same as the Temples of Old Testament times). The knowledge that I have gained by attending the Temple has blessed my life incredibly. Show more Show less
