Hi I'm Kelly

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love good music! I have had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall as part of a Choir. I also like to camp and fish (as long as I don't have to touch it or eat it). I like to do geneology and see who I am like from past generations.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is becuase I recevied an answer from my Heavenly Father that it is true. I have always been a member of the church but in my early twenties I wasn't sure where my life was headed. I sort of believed, because of my parents, that the church was true but I wasn't truly sure for myself. It wasn't until I went on a missionary exchange with one of the missionaries in my area. We were teaching a young man about following the Savior's example by being baptized. We asked him he woudl follow the example of the Savior by being baptized. He firmly said that he would. On my way home I realized that there have been many on this Earth who know that the gospel is true and that young man knew as well. I realized then that I needed to know for myself that God lives and if the Book of Mormon was true. That night I started to read the Book of Mormon for the first time and within a few weeks I had finished. I knelt down and offered a sincere prayer to know if God actually lived and if I was his child. I also asked to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I don't know how to describe the feeling I felt but I can tell you it was one of love and also of having my prayered answered. From that point on I have never looked back.

How I live my faith

Currently I direct a choir made up of members of the congregation. I also visit members our our church on a monthly basis to see how they are doing and help with any concerns that they might have.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Anyone is invited to our church meetings. Our main worship service is called Sacrament meeting. This is a time where members of the congregation can partake of the sacrament (communion) and renew with God the special promises we make at baptism. As part of this meeting we also sing hymns and have speakers who give talks. Please know that we do not request donations during the Sacrament meeting. This meeting lasts about 70 minutes. Along with the Sacrament meeting we have other meetings visitors may attend as well. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Anyone may attend our church meetings. However, temples are set apart. Temples are sacred and are considered houses of God. In order to attend the temple there are specific qualifications that need to be met in order to enter a temple. Show more Show less
