Hi I'm Parker

I am a returned missionary, and I love the Gospel!

About Me

I am serving a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and love what I am doing. In high school I played football, basketball, water polo, and swam. I am an Eagle Scout and attended a year of college the year before I left to serve a mission. I have a loving family with two younger sisters and my parents. I enjoy nature, photography, sports, and staying as active as I can. I love and live life to its fullest every day and know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the single thing that helps me always.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but like most members, I needed to find out for my self if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was in fact restored by Joseph Smith and if it is Christ's true Church on the Earth again. Like Joseph Smith, I went to my Heavenly Father in prayer and asked if this was the path and the church that I needed to be apart of when I was about 15 or 16 years old. I found out by the feelings that I had that this was and is the true Church restored again to the Earth. For me those feelings were feelings of peace, comfort, and assurance that everything was and will be ok if I do my part in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because the teachings of church, The Gospel of Jesus Christ, provides me with direction in my life and gives me purpose in this life to strive to do all I can to follow the perfect example that Christ has set for all of mankind.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years. I am currently serving a mission for the Church to share with others the joy, the peace, the clearity, and the direction that the teachings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ provide for me. I started serving in June of 2010 and will complete my service in June of 2012.I will be sharing with people of the world the message that has provided me a safe place to come to in my times of need, The Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible speaks of missionaries who go forth to preach the Word of God to the people and how that service helped so many. That is what I am doing; going forth to the people to preach the Word of God in its fullness.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Parker
The biggest thing that tells me there is a God is nature. About 2 months ago I was walking down a stree and a leaf from a tree fell on to me. I held the leaf in my hands and then turned the leaf over and looked at the back. As I noticed how complex the leaf was, with veins and what not, it made me think to my self, " This couldn't have just happened by chance. It is to complex, it had to be created by God." A simple leaf to me tells me that there is a God, our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Parker
YES! I truly belive with every fiber of my being that there is a living prophet today like Moses. His name is Thomas S. Monson and he, like Moses, communitcates directly with and to God concerning the welfare of the people of the world. We listen to prophets because they provide us guidance directly from God that will help us most today. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's chosen prophet today to help us know what we must to follow the commandments of God. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Parker
The priesthood simply put is the ability to act in God's name to help others. In the Bible, particularly with the account of Jesus Christ coming to John the Baptist to be baptized, the priesthood is an important aspect. The priesthood allows us to make promises with God that are not only good for this life but are good for the life to come. One of these promises that uses the priesthood is called baptism. In order to have a baptism recognized not only on Earth but in the Heavens, one must be baptized with this priesthood authority. We also use the priesthood to bless the lives of others through blessings of health and blessings of comfort. The ability to act in God's name, or the priesthood, is restored again to the Earth.
