Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in Boise Idaho. I love to play golf. I LOVE to cook. I'm an Eagle Scout and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Chris and I'm 19 years old. I graduated high school in 2009 and went to college for a year, just getting my generals out of the way. I love to play golf, its my very favorite sport. My passion is cooking, I love to cook and if I had my way I would spend all day everyday in the kitchen. I hope to be either a doctor or a chef someday. I am the oldest of three boys and I love my family very much. I guess thats me in a nutshell!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of this Church. Some may say "you are only a member because your parents forced it upon you". I am here to tell you that's not true. I love being a member of this church. It has blessed my life so much and I know that this Gospel is true. I know that Jesus Christ, suffered for our sins and that he died for us. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to set up His church in these Latter-Days. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon and that it is the word of God, that is meant to go along side of the bible in helping us learn about Jesus Christ's Gospel. However, you dont have to take my word for all this. I promise that if you will pray to God and sincerely ask if these things are true, his holy spirit will testify to you that they are true. Then you can know these things for yourself.

How I live my faith

On June 9th I began my 2 year full-time mission for the church. I am serving in New York City speaking Mandarin Chinese! Crazy huh? Anyways, I am here to share the gospel with people, I am here to tell everyone about God's plan of happiness for all people. The days are long and arduous, up at 6:30 to bed at 10:30 and we're going non-stop all day. But its all worth it, its such a blessing, and its fun!! I thank the Lord every day for this opportunity I have been given.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Chris
I think this is because we read a book of scripture called the Book of Mormon and people maybe thought we worshiped mormon or something (which is not true) But I think that's where the name came from. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Chris
Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet on the earth in these latter-days! He speaks with God and god tells him what his children here on earth need to hear. This process is called revelation. Then he tells us, God's Children, what God wants us to hear. It's truly a blessing from the Lord to have a prophet on the earth today! Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Chris
No unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God. No human is perfect. Therefore none of us are clean, inorder to repent and be made clean again we needed Jesus Christ to atone for our sins, this is the only way possible to return to live with God. Therefore he saved our souls, so that they can dwell with God. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Chris
For Church on sunday we beleive in dressing up in our best to show respect to the Lord. Men wear nice slacks with a tucked in button down collard shirt and a tie. They also wear dress shoes. Women wear a dressy blouse with skirt or a modest dress. As with our clothing we come to church well groomed with our hair combed and such. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Chris
First Contact the missionaries in you area! Ask to be taught about the gospel and ask the missionaries to teach you how to pray. When you pray, really wanting to know the truth, God will send his spirit to make you feel good, and feel at peace. This is the Spirit telling you that what you are praying about is true. They will have a message about families and how important they are to God. Most importantly they will have a message about Jesus Christ and his restored gospel on the earth today. These missionaries are not here to try to sell you some product so that they can gain from it, they are here to share it with you so that you can find more happiness and peace in your life. Chris
The Mormon Lifestyle is just like anyone elses lifestyle, We are normal people beleive it or not. We do have electricity, televisions, cell phones and iPods. We dont Drink Alcohol, Tea, or Coffe. We dont smoke, and we beleive in being sexually abstinent before marraige. We also beleive in regarding sunday as a sacred day, that is we dont shop, play sports, or do anything of the sort on sudays. People might say that we are tied down by these rules. I know from experience that obedience to these rules has made me more free than I could have been otherwise. Show more Show less
