Hi I'm Andrew Astin

I'm a son, a brother, a pre-med student, but, most importantly, I'm a Mormon, and I love it. Find out why!

About Me

I am a college student studying neuroscience with hopes of going to medical school. I love my family, staying active, and life. I returned recently from serving a mission for two years in El Salvador, where I learned what life is really all about. Being a football fan, I root for the University of Colorado Buffaloes and the Oakland Raiders. My family and loved ones mean the world to me, and one of my favorite things in the world is simply being with them. I currently work as an intern with the athletic trainers of the CU-Boulder football team in the Sports Medicine Department.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because Jesus Christ lives. He lives and loves me, and He has provided all things for me to be successful in life and for eternity after this life. I am a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Ghost speak to my soul that it is what He would have me do. I am a Mormon because I cannot deny that the Lord has led me to believe in Him in His way, which is through revelation received by His authorized servants that live today. I am a Mormon because I have put the promises that He has made to the test, and they work.

How I live my faith

I believe that the Lord most often spreads His love and goodness through people, and I try to live my faith most by being someone through whom the Lord can spread that love and goodness. I attend Church on Sundays and assist a scripture study class on Wednesdays. I help out in the organizing of the group of single adult men within the Church in the Boulder area. I visit people that the missionaries of the Church teach in order to help them understand more about what we believe and how they can know that the things that the missionaries teach are true and of the Lord. I also participate in a choir at Church. I seek to do the simple but powerful things everyday that will allow me to grow closer to the Lord, like study of the scriptures, real prayer, and finding ways to help others.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Andrew Astin
Mormon missionarie proselyte in order to spread the knowledge of Jesus Christ to all those who do not have faith in or knowledge of Him and to all those who have faith in Him yet are unaware of His true nature and role in our lives today. Everything that the missionaries teach and share with people is to invite them to come unto Christ by helping them receive His restored Gospel. The objective of the Mormon missionaries is to help all and be a light unto the world. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Andrew Astin
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most important of everything that He has done for us: His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and His suffering on the cross of Calvary. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is that He sacrificed Himself in order for us to be able to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. Without what Christ did, all of our faith and efforts would be in vain. We owe everything to Him and the Father. Show more Show less
