Hi I'm Kwin

I grew up milking cows on a dairy farm in western WY. I am a father of 3 boys and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with three sons. I like playing with my boys whether it be basketball, football or soccer. I have degrees in accounting, education and human resource management. I was raised on a dairy farm. I have fond memories of working in the hay fields and of milking cows.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I believe it's true. I was raised in the Church and am grateful that growing up we were active participants in the Church. I left home to attend the University of Wyoming. While there I finished reading the Book of Mormon. I knelt by my bed in my dorm room and asked Heavenly Father if it were true. I had an overwhelming feeling that filled my whole body. I knew it to be an answer to my prayer. I have had that same feeling come again and again. I recognize it as the Holy Ghost bearing witness to me of truth. If the Book of Mormon is the word of God, then I know that Jesus is the Christ. If that is true then Joseph Smith was his chosen prophet and the things he did as the prophet are true. The final link then is that the Church established by Joseph Smith is the true Church of Jesus Christ. It all falls back to whether the Book of Mormon is scripture. I know that God answered my prayer suggesting to me that the Book of Mormon is true. This suggests to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true as well.

How I live my faith

If the Church is true, then the doctrines it espouses are guidelines I need to follow in my life. My goal is to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I want to be more like Him. I believe that following him is "living after the manner of happiness." I seek to live up to the promises I have made through making covenants. I begin and end each day in formal prayer. I also spend time each day studying scriptures. I seek to help those in need. I do the same with my family. We kneel together both morning and night and pray together. We also spend time in the scriptures each day. It affects how we approach Sundays. We attend Church services together. I understand that one of the most important things I do each week is partake of the sacrament in sacrament meeting. I seek to be honest in all my associations both professionally and socially. I have to be a man of integrity based on my belief system. I currently serve as a Bishop in my ward. This is a position similar to a pastor or a reverend. In the Church, we don't have a paid clergy. My time is donated to the Church. I receive many blessings, but I do not receive payment for my services. I work closely with the youth trying to help them have experiences where they come to know the Church is true for themselves. I also counsel with them about any problems or concerns they may have about ........life in general.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We increase our faith in Christ by learning about Him and then following his example. In John 7:17 it says, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." If I want to find out if prayer is a true principle, I pray. If I want to find out if there's power in the scriptures and that they truly are the word of God, I read and study them. Noting what happens when we do this will increase our faith. Faith in Christ leads to action. It leads to sincere and lasting repentance. Having faith causes us to try as hard as we can to learn about and become more like our Savior. Show more Show less
