Hi I'm Neil J Anderson

I grew up in Perry, Utah. I am a Professor of Linguistics and English Language at BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served a mission for the Church in Guatemala and El Salvador from 1974-1976. I earned a BA degree in Spanish and an MA degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Brigham Young University. I earned a PhD in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Texas at Austin, I married Kathleen Reaser and we are the proud parents of five children and twelve grand children. We have lived in Utah, the Philippines, Texas, and Ohio. I have traveled to 43 countries working with English language educators. My family is very important to me. Our children and grand children are in many different places (Ohio, Virginia, and Kenya). I love talking to them on the telephone and spending time with them when I can. I love training English language teachers and teaching English language learners. I have the great opportunity every day to work with outstanding individuals who are reaching out to others who desire to improve their English language skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a deep conviction that God still cares about His children on the earth today. Because He cares for us, He has called prophets today to lead His church. As I listen to and follow the direction of modern day prophets and apostles, I experience a peace and happiness that cannot be counterfeited in any way.

How I live my faith

Every day provides a new opportunity to live my faith. I begin each morning by reading the scriptures and kneeling in prayer. When I consistently begin my day in this way I can move forward with confidence knowing that I have connected with my Heavenly Father.
