Hi I'm Jake

Born in Chicago where i caught the hoop fever, i go crazy w/ Bay area rap, I hope to be a Supreme Court Justice and I am a Mormon

About Me

I am 19 yrs. old and I am on a LDS mission! I am learning the spanish language right now and serving in Everett, Washington. Before my mission, i went to BYU for a year, Go Cougs!, and i am majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. Before that, I went to Pleasant Grove High School in Utah where i was in student council and was on the tennis team and loved it. I love hanging out with my friends, i really do love my friends and i have some really close ones serving missions all over the world:West Indies, Poland, Washington, Germany, Bolivia, and Chile. I am very competitive and love to play just about any sport especially Basketball, Football, Volleyball, and Tennis. I also am in love with Snowboarding, Wakeboarding, and Cliff Jumping at Lake Powell. I have amazing parents: My mom is from Orange County and she's just about the funnest person to hang with, and my Dad is from Arizona and is a Judge on the Utah Supreme Court and is like my twin. We look alike act alike and walk and talk alike. I have an older sis.(Jordan, 22) and a younger sis.(Tara, 10), who are suuuper cute girls and the nicest too. I also have 3 little bro.s (Ben, 16), (Josh, 13), and (Danny 10, who i got the oppurtunity to baptize a couple years ago). I love my little brothers, they are my best friends and i would do anything for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but that doesn't mean i do not have a conversion story. When i was little I just judged the church from the light of christ within me (Book of Mormon: Moroni 7:16). I did not know it was true, but i did know it brought forth good fruit. But then i started going to firesides, testimony meetings, ward activities, etc and i felt the spirit so strong there. Later i asked Heavenly Father, in the name of Christ, if this church is true and many other times i asked to strengthen my faith and from those sacred expiriences i now know it is. I know that 200 years ago Joseph Smith read James 1:5 and he did kneel down and ask God which church to join. I know that God and Christ appeared to him and told him that none of them where true. I know that he did uncover the Gold Plates and Translate them into the Book of Mormon. I know that there is no way on earth that a boy like this ((who had countless trials started from when he was a boy, who read in the Bible that False-Prophets would be thrust down to hell, and who went through getting tarred and feathered, and later shot)) would make up a false story like this. This is true. I plead with you to take up Moroni's, Joseph's, and My promise that if you read the Book of Mormon and ask it its true you will know of it for yourself.

How I live my faith

Right Now I am serving an LDS (mormon) mission in Everett, Washington. I have learned the spanish language and have fallen in love with the Hispanic Culture. I teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone that will listen and I love every minute of it. I pray every night for the Lord to prepare people and put them in my path so that i can help them recieve help from the Lord.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Jake
Because we believe in Christ. He is the center of our faith. He is the only way that we can return and be with God and live with our families forever. We believe the Bible to be true as far as it is translated correctly. The Bible is an amazing book. It can help people come so close to Christ. The Book of Mormon completes the Gospel. For example the Bible does not contain the word "plan" and the BOM does many times. This is how we know what Gods Plan (The Plan of Salvation) is. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Jake
Yes i do :) ! Heavenly Father (God) gives his children (Us), throughout life, prophets to preach and testify of Christ and lead people through revelation. I know that God loves all of his children. Also he has been the same yesterday, today, and forever (Moroni 10:19). Therefore, he lovingly yet again reached out his hand and gave us prophets for the latter days (these are the latter days) after the a long period of spiritual darkness after the death of Christ and his apostles.
