Hi I'm Scotty

I grew up in the Idaho mountains. I'm a college student. I spent two years on the streets of LA talking about Christ. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the oldest son of seven children. I love playing football and basketball. When I’m not playing sports I like to be outside, especially when I can be on a snowmobile. I recently returned from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Los Angeles California. It was the best experience of my life. I currently attend college studying both business as well as mechanical engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? That’s an interesting question, one I’ve been asked many times in my life. When it all comes down to it the answer is because God told me that what I was being taught was true. It might disappoint some when I tell you God didn’t send an angle or an earth quake to respond to my search for truth. It was much simpler than that. I found answers in the good feelings that came after reading the Book of Mormon or the assurance that this was where God wanted me, after a prayer. The biggest reason though is because it makes me happy. Everything I have learned has made life easier and much less confusing. I am just happier when I’m following the commandments. It’s made me realize that God doesn’t give us commandments to tie us down, but to show us how to find real joy. I know that Jesus Christ truly gave his life for us all. It is through him that one day we can be reunited with those that we love. The Book of Mormon testifies of this and strengthens my belief that God literally is our loving Heavenly Father. I know if you'll just give it a fair chance, listening to your heart, you'll find your own answer.

How I live my faith

Living your faith is just that living. Everyday it's doing your best to try and be an example of Christ. I think one of the best ways to do this is through service. My favorite thing to do is volunteer at one of the local elementary schools where I help sixth graders get excited to go to college one day.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Families are everything to us. Everything that we do is centered on the family and how God has provided a way for us to be able to live together forever. Even after death through the atonement of Jesus Christ we are able to live again. One of our main purposes of coming to earth was to develop family relationships.
