Hi I'm Ant

I'm a husband, a father, an IT professional, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

By profession I'm a technologist. I'm fascinated by technology and how it shapes and changes our world. I am what many would call a 'nerd'. However, I love the outdoors and being active. Some of my most favorite activities are hiking, backpacking, swimming, running, and playing sports like ultimate frisbee. My favorite random sport right now is Australian Rules Football, or Footy. I also enjoy reading quite a bit and am always looking out for a good book to read. My wife and I meet and married while doing our undergraduate studies. We have two children and teach birth classes.

Why I am a Mormon

I have continued a faithful member of this Church because I have never been happier and don't think I ever could be happier. The principles of Faith in Christ, Repentance, and Personal Revelation through the Holy Ghost have gotten me through many difficult times and have brought peace to my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday through the choices I make. It is simple things like the language I use, the way I treat my wife and children, and how I reach out to others. I love service and especially like being involved with local and international development. Helping others will always be the best way for me to follow Christs teaching to "love God and love my neighbor".

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

I believe it helps many people in general ways, but it can also help in very specific and individual ways. For me, faith in Christ helps me to have hope in life and in other people as children of God. I am more likely to treat others, family or friends, with more respect and have more trust in them to do the right things. My faith in Christ also helps me to be more understanding of others and their struggles. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No. As Christians we would never limit our outreach to only a specific group of people. Christ taught to help all who are in need, regardless of faith, gender, race, etc, and so we pursue as best we can to implement this teaching in our worship and daily actions. However, to some people it may appear that Mormons only help Mormons because within the church there are many social networks (real ones, not computer ones on the internet) through which members reach out to help other members making it, in some cases easier to render help with in the church community. In either case, rendering help to members or others, the leadership and members don't usually flaunt their good deeds for everyone to take notice. Show more Show less
