Hi I'm Marcus

I'm a gamer, I love Survivor, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a video gamer at heart. I love console video games, and have played them all my life. But, I'm also a board gamer. I love a strong mental challenge, and will employ any and all (fair) strategies to win in a fun competition. And if you think of me, you think of Survivor. I love watching Survivor, and will discuss strategy whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Utah, so I've been a Mormon my whole life. Although I did not understand it well growing up, the time came for me to decide whether to go on a mission or to gain further education through college. I didn't have a full testimony of the truthfulness of the church at that time, and was seriously considering forsaking a mission. Then, I got a challenge to read the Book of Mormon, front to back, and pray to know whether or not it was true. So I did just that. I read it, cover to cover, and prayed. I didn't get my answer right away, but, with more study and prayer, I have a sure confirmation that this is the one true church, and that a mission was the right thing for me. And here I am, devoting two years of my life to the Lord. I am eternally grateful for this church, the profound effect it has on me and my family, and for the blessings which I have received from it.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the California San Fernando mission, teaching in the great language of Spanish. I love being able to serve the Lord, and to have the opportunity to do it. I owe a great deal to the Lord for all the gifts he gives me, and a mission is my opinion of a great way to show my gratitude.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Marcus
In ancient times, the people rejected the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ, which was being taught by the Apostles of Christ at the time. They killed the Apostles, and took many truths out of the Church. Because the fulness of the gospel was not in the Church, the priesthood authority was withdrawn from the earth, and the true church was lost. While the Bible has many truths in it, a lot of the teachings were taken out, because, like I said before, the people didn't believe them, and thought they conflicted with their own teachings. Thus, the fulness of the Gospel needed to be restored. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Marcus
Because we want others to know the joy that we feel. When we feel a true conversion to the church, we have a sincere desire to teach it to the people who aren't members. Show more Show less
