Hi I'm Jeff

Most of all, I love my family. I enjoy going on dates with my wife and wakeboarding, cycling and hiking with my kids.

About Me

I met Nancy in high school, and now married almost 30 years, it seems like yesterday. We’ve raised six great kids. I think they were born that way but I have to give Nancy the most credit! We couldn’t be more proud of our five sons and one daughter. Our family has now grown to include a son and daughter-in-law, and five grandkids. We’ve always been fortunate to live in the most beautiful places. Married in Salt Lake City, Utah, we moved to Seattle after graduation from the University of Utah. Working for Boeing on the 767/747 airplanes was cool but I wanted to study medical imaging so I returned to grad school in 1990. A few years later we landed in Fort Collins, Colorado and for 15 years, we loved it there! I confess Colorado with it's beautiful mountains is still my favorite state. A strong pull eventually took us to the far east – not Asia (that’s too far) but Maine. What an incredible place to live - beautiful lakes and an amazing coastline! It was dicey to uproot our kids while in their prime school years and move across the country, but they have loved it and thrived here. It's wonderful to have the Church wherever we go to provide support and familiarity. While living in the Northeast, I was fortunate to be able to attend MIT and earn an MBA. I find I love learning and this extra education has been a great help in my career, where I head up teh R&D organization for my company.

Why I am a Mormon

Life has to make sense to me. I'm sort of a logical person (hence my engineering education), but I also trust some of my feelings and impressions. Something has always told me there is a Creator in this Universe. Both reason and study of the scriptures confirm this for me. I know God lives. The Book of Mormon is a book I firmly believe is true. In fact this book is what helps me believe the Bible. I love the scriptures and the records of past prophets. Having lost our 17-year old son in a tragic accident in 2009, the resurrection of Christ and his atonement have taken on a richer meaning for me. I’ve come to really appreciate what Christ has done for us and come to value our Heavenly Father’s plan even more. I love belonging to the Church. I love that I get to serve in many roles in this Church. There is simply no other organization on earth like this church. I can’t imagine where I’d be without it! It has helped guide us on a daily basis and cemented our family together. As I said, Wow! How did I get to be so lucky!

How I live my faith

Faith really is about loving God and loving our fellow man. For me, it’s that simple. It's how we treat people that matters. All my other efforts are to support these two things. My faith mostly helps me in my home with my wife and children. It also helps me at the office where I work. The lessons I've learned from the gospel of Jesus Christ, remind me how I should treat others, how to be humble, how to work hard, how to give of myself, how to say, “I'm sorry,” when needed, how to be a leader, how to persevere through hard things, how to stay optimistic and how to be cheerful. I don't know where I'd be without faith in God and his Son or where I'd be without the church to guide and help me. I love having opportunities to serve in the church – it's so great to belong!
