Hi I'm Cortnie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home wife, with a degree in Para Education. My husband and I have been married for almost 3 years and are in the process of adopting. Currently we have two dogs and no kids In my spare time, I love to play my flute, and have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a background of family members of the church, but when I was little we stopped going. I never forgot about primary or praying or flat out believing in Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ. About 12 years old I wanted to start going back to church, so I did, but not directly to The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.I went to another church with another friend. When I was 14 I wanted to get baptized, but I didn't feel confident in my decision, so I prayed about it. The next couple of days, the missionaries came over to talk to me about the Mormon church. Grant it, I had been brought up with the church in my background, so I knew a lot about the church. The missionaries asked me to pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of the gospel, so I did. Not to long after I got baptized and have been going to church ever since.

How I live my faith

One question I always get asked it, why are you so happy all the time? The answer is: I know my Heavenly Father loves me, he sent His Son so that I may return one day to live with them again. My life is never alone. I will always have the ones I love in and around my life. Whether they have passed on or not, I know that they are and will be with me. I always have a prayer and a song in my heart. I can't deny it. Heavenly Father knows me inside and out. He is there when I least and most expect it. Having joy and love and faith is soo important in my life, that I can live each day knowing that I am well taken care of and NEVER alone. It is a true blessing. Without my faith I would truly be lost. Honestly, I don't know where I would be without these things in my life.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Growing up, my family always to me that we should be prepared for any contasterphy. It wasn't until later that I learned that it truly comes in handy and the it is practiced in the church. When I was about 19 my father had a one year supply of food. When he died my older brother was to move back home. He had little money and hardly any food to do so. SO, he decided to grab my father's supple and head back. That one year supply got my brother through running out of gas, little money, however, there was some funds from the supply, flat tire, and many cold nights. Honestly without this supple he says, that he probably wouldn't of made it from the trip. The point is, one never knows, when the supplies are needed, and one can never be to sure without it. I know it has helped my family in more then one way so far in life experiences. Show more Show less
