Hi I'm Karalee.

I am a teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of a grown daughter and teach in a public school. I enjoy playing the piano and doing some ventriloquism. I also spend time gardening and reading easy French books.

Why I am a Mormon

I searched for years for spiritual truth -- trying various churches, reading much, and pondering the work of many philosophers. Some things I read, I rejected as false. Other things I realized had to be true. Every time I found something I would know had to be true about life, I'd share it with my mom who had joined previously. She'd gently say, "Our church teaches that." This happened several times. Finally, I found a truth I'd never heard before and just knew it had to be true. I told my mom, "I think we were spirits before we came to earth." She said, "Our church teaches that." I was silent. I remember that moment clearly I knew the LDS faith was true. I called the missionaries, took the discussions, and joined. That was many years ago and I have never felt I had to look anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week. I have worked with young children, young women, and the women of our ward. I'm involved in music in the church. Also, I listen to radio.lds every morning to start my day.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

The idea of Joseph Smith being a Prophet and having a Prophet on the earth today was a hurdle I had to get past before I joined the Church, so I understand how it can be a hurdle for others. But the more I understood why we need a Prophet on the earth today, the more sense it made to me. I really believe that we are led by a Prophet for the world today. Every time I watch General Conference (in October and April), I am so grateful for the loving and protective guidance our leaders give us. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are all unique yet we are all trying to do our best to follow the Savior and His teachings. Men and women have different, but equally important roles in the Church. The men hold the Priesthood, but it isn't just for them; its purpose is to serve others -- both men and women -- equally. The Proclamation on the Family has helped me understand the eternal roles of men and women. Show more Show less
