Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a sports fanatic, I'm a cancer survivor and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 21 years old and am currently serving a mission in Louisiana. When I finish here, I'll be going back to school and studying business education and foreign languages. I love sports. Baseball, basketball, football, curling, and anything else in the Olympics. My favorite thing to do is head to the backyard and play with my friends and family. Just being outside in general calls for a great time. Camping, fishing, white-water rafting, you name it. When the weather isn't to friendly, its always nice to come on in and grab a nice book to read or watch a movie. Life is such a precious things, just enjoy the moment and live every day to the fullest. I learned that lesson after almost losing my life as an 8 year-old boy to lymphoblastic lymphoma.

Why I am a Mormon

There is so much evidence out in the world that disproves religion and the existence of God. No matter what it is you can find evidence against it. One thing that can never be taken away from me though, is the internal evidence I have received from God through the Holy Ghost about the truthfulness of the restored gospel. I truly learned that the Book of Mormon was a true book from God at the age of 14. After reading it, I prayed to God to know if it was true and He manifested the answer of it unto me. Ever since then, I've had many experiences that one after another have confirmed my testimony and made it even stronger. God does not leave us alone and always lets us know He is there, He loves us and what is the truth in this confusing world.

How I live my faith

Doing the best I can everyday to live the gospel of Jesus Christ is the way I live my faith. Right now, I have a special assignment as a missionary to go forth and preach His gospel every day to those who are willing to listen and show there faith in Him. It is such a blessing and an opportunity to me to do that as it is teaching me even better how to live my faith. It is teaching me to be like Jesus Christ. That is the basis of our faith, to become like our Savior, live like he did. Show love and affection to all instead of worrying about only ourselves. After my mission, I will return home and continue to serve by helping those in need, being a friend to all who feel alone. I hope to receive another assignment to continue to serve in the Church of Jesus Christ.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Spencer
First things first, talk to Him. Pray to Him. Listen, you will find he is there. You may not hear a voice of thunder speaking to you, but you will feel His presence. Once you know He is there, speak to Him as you would your father, with love and respect. Have a conversation with Him. As we do that we can come to know His will for us in this life and as we keep His commandment and follow His counsel for us, we come to a greater understanding of who He really is. Studying the scriptures is a great way to know more about Him too. Everyone talks about their relationship with God. It's a family relationship. If we want to know Him, we must do our part and He will do His part and we will grow into a greater knowledge and understanding of Him. Show more Show less
