Hi I'm Linda

I live in California, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother, grandmother, and wife. I am a hairdresser, and had a salon in my home for 30 years. I decided about 18 years ago to get my teaching license in cosmetology, which I did, and taught in a private and public cosmetology schools. I decided that I wanted to do something different about 15 years ago, so I started subbing in the public schools, as clerk, and anything else that they would call be to do. Six years ago I applied for and got the position of a librarian in an elementary school. Since I love children, and just didn’t want to go back to school to get my degree, this has worked out great for me. I get to see all the children in the whole school every week, and it is just like my salon. They come to visit for a short period of time and then they leave. I love to do work on the computer. I have put my old pictures on the computer, and cleaned them up. I have mastered many of the computer programs. Because of my love of the computer, I have done the Sunday program for 10 years, have done newsletters, baptismal programs, funeral programs and address books. I enjoy playing the piano, researching things of interest to myself or my husband, and of course enjoying the grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was at college, I can remember spending many nights awake thinking about his world, the universe, etc. During his time I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why after God sent His son Jesus Christ to earth to save us from our sins and He established his disciples, why after a time there wan’ anyone to continue as His 12 disciples to spread His word. Through the years I have tried to go back to church. I knew I loved God, and still believed and knew the importance but there was something that was not complete. My daughter had dated a man that had given her name to the missionaries to call her. When the missionaries came to teach us they would as if we believed what they taught was true, I listened, I read, I prayed and I thought. I kept thinking back to all my questions when I was in college. What a wonderful feeling to believe He is still communicating with us as He did in the “days of old”. I was asked to, in my prayers if I do believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that it is the restored Church of Christ, and that it has be restored in the last days. Also, if I do believe what they have taught is true. I did and received my answer, so decided that I should be baptized with the kids. I know I belong to a Church that is the way God intended. I know why they say brother and sister to everyone, because that’s what they see to be. They care about each and every one. They care about families they care about you if you are a child, a mother, a woman, a man a grandmother, any position of life that you are in. I guess I think about how Weight Watchers says they’re not a diet but a way of life. This is not just a religion to be there when you feel like you need, it is a way of life, a plan that is easy to follow and I believe is true and the way our Heavenly Father intended.

How I live my faith

My experience at my baptism, I made a promise to myself. I want to always feel the way I felt that day. The way I can do that is by doing everything that I was doing then, trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Trying to be a good example because that is what Heavenly Father would want us to do.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Linda
Our Father in Heaven promises to tell us personally by the power of the Holy Ghost what is true if we ask it. In other words when we hear or read something that clams to be the true all we have to do is pray to our Heavenly Father and follow way it says in Moroni 10:4 & 5 …“Ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.” I appreciated the missionaries that taught me about the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I went to Church the whole time I was growing up. As the missionaries said from the beginning, all that they would do is to build on the knowledge that I already knew. My simple prayer was heard and answered. Of all the evidence that God loves us, nothing is as sweet and real and lasting as having received an honest answer to my prayer. I know if he answered me, He’ll answer you. Show more Show less
