Hi I'm Erica

Besides the full-time job of raising six beautiful children, I am a freelance artist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I'm a wife and mother. My family is so important to me and I take my responsibility very seriously. With six children under the age of 11, my time is a precious commodity. I enjoy the time I get to spend with my children while they are young. We play, laugh and learn together. Secondary to the church and my family is my love of creating. I'm a self-taught artist with a focus on portraits. So far my mediums include, water color, oil, graphite, acrylic and colored pencil. Sharing my gift with people is extremely rewarding and the personal growth that takes place as I seek to expand my experience is a good thing. Baking is another outlet for me. With so many mouths to feed I find baking whole-grain food a good way to keep them healthy and content. We have a wheat grinder and a Bosch and I put them to use frequently. My kids are all learning to bake and cook. It's so fun to watch them develop and learn the skills that will carry them through for the rest of their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and have been active all my life. My mother was baptized when she was 15 years old. Her father (he died before my mother was married) was converted just a few years before she was and was able to introduce her to the gospel. My grandparents were divorced and my grandmother never was converted. My father's parents were introduced to the gospel when he was a young child and always had strong testimonies. As a child I followed the course set for me by my parents. We attended weekly church meetings, held family prayer and scripture study and had weekly family meetings like Family Home Evening and family counsel. I was the second of seven children. Our house was full and busy. My parents taught us that hard work was important and that daily prayer and scripture study would keep us happy. My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has grown as I seek to discover truth and what my purpose in life is. As a teenager I was given some experiences that allowed me to experience the love of the Savior and the blessings that come with obedience to the commandments of the Lord. As a young adult I strove to make right choices and was blessed to be married in the temple to a young man that shared my testimony and goals. I'm a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and living by it's principles gives me a happiness and contentment that cannot be found anywhere else.

How I live my faith

As a member of the church I am blessed to be able to serve the women in our ward and community. My calling gives me the opportunity to oversee the preparation of monthly mid-week meetings or activities where the women can come together for learning and socializing. Our advisers counsel us to create an environment where the women can learn of the Savior while creating friendships. Our activities often include dinner, singing, games, short spiritual lessons and a lot of laughter.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?
