Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

the word "Mormon" derives from the Book of Mormon, he was a Prophet and Military leader in his day charged with abridging the records of his people called "Nephites" and why it is called the Book of Mormon, during Joseph Smith's day, when it was first published in 1830 those who did not like the Church or Joseph Smith used the Book of Mormon title to describe the Church in a derisive way, and ever since then it has stuck and today Most know our Church through the word Mormon, even though it's not the name of the Church, which is "the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints" named after and for our Savior, who's Church it is. What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Mormonism is a word given to the Church by those who disliked our church when it was established in 1830 by Joseph Smith jr, since then it has stuck, Jesus Christ is the Foundation of our church and is named after him, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. we worship him alone, and believe that thru his chosen Prophet we continue to receive Modern day Revelation to guide his church and People. Family is essential in LDS belief, as a sure foundation for a happy life and guidance and where we can not only be together in this life but for Eternity. Show more Show less
