Hi I'm Jeff Wallace

I teach at a public college in the Home and Family Studies department. I'm a personal & family finance nerd. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the father of three beautiful children, which makes us the four luckiest people in the world, considering my wife is amazing! I teach a courtship and marriage course, a human development course, and a family resource management course at a public college in central utah. I'm only a nerd because I find enjoyment in creating useful spreadsheets, writing, crunching numbers, and analyzing data. However, I offset my nerdiness with my love for playing the guitar and drums, destroying targets at the shooting range, investing in real estate, and wrestling with my children. However, it doesn't matter how cool I really am, because my wife considers me a true dork, and she always has the final say!

Why I am a Mormon

Sometimes I wish I had a really amazing story to tell about WHY I believe in my religion. That's not to say that I have not experienced and witnessed remarkable events, because I have. And that's also not to say that I have no stories to tell, because I do. But, the answer as to WHY I am a mormon is really simple. I have studied the religions of the world and the philosophies of men. Several years ago, I read The Book of Mormon with an open mind and heart, and the experience changed my life. I now have a deep conviction that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Redeemer of mankind. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have had peace and happiness in my life as I have worked to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. The miracles and sacred experiences I have seen and experienced really are amazing and special to me, but these experiences have come after the Lord touched my heart and whispered to my soul that the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true because the Spirit of God comes into my life when I read it, which means that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that this really is the true church of Jesus Christ. I love to know that God cares about us today enough to give us prophets, just like He did in ancient days.

How I live my faith

I study the scriptures personally and as a family every day because it brings my family closer together and we feel closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. We attend church together on Sundays, and I love the opportunity to recommit myself to be a better disciple of my Redeemer Jesus Christ. I strive to fulfill my assignments to teach and train the cub scouts each week, and to teach a gospel lesson to the men at church once a month. I know that I have so much room for improvement in my life, but I have faith that as I strive to follow Jesus Christ, that He will give me strength and help me to become a better person and a better servant to Him.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jeff Wallace
No. We respect Joseph Smith because he was like any other prophet including Noah, Abraham, or Moses. We speak of Joseph Smith often because he taught us just like the other prophets taught us. We know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet because he was an instrument in the Lord's hands to translate the Book of Mormon into English. Joseph Smith was an uneducated farm boy, and did not have any education that would enable him to write such a book. We sincerely respect Joseph Smith for following the direction of Jesus Christ and teaching us what the Savior wants us to know. We only worship God the Father and we have faith that salvation is through His Son, Jesus Christ. We are grateful for the true prophets that lead us to Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
