Hi I'm Carly

I'm a mother, I'm a teacher, I'm a children's entertainer, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of one, and although it took a while for our little man to arrive into our family, the learnt a lot about myself and my Savior in the mean time. I was married in the Hamilton, New Zealand temple to my wonderful husband. I have 4 siblings, and 2 fantastic parents. And with the powers of my family and my husbands family combined we have 33 nieces and nephews. As you can see... my family is everything to me!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both members of the church, which ment I was born into the church. That however, does not mean I didn't have a choice as to whether or not I stayed active in the church. My parents were always very good at making my siblings and I aware of the teachings of the gospel, and what it ment for us in our day to day lives, without making us feel it was "Their way or the high way." They let me know what they would expect of me, but in the end it was my decision and I always felt empowered by that, and although I probably let my foot slip off the path every now in then in testing to see if they really ment it... I generally did my best to stay on the path they had told me to take to show me I could be trusted. As a result of my choices I currently live a life that I have always dreamed of. I may not have been the most popular person at school, because I wouldn't do certain things, or been able to make the top sports teams, because I wouldn't go to practices on Sunday. But staying active in the church has been the one true constance in my life, and I have never had to really wonder who I am or what on earth I am doing because I have always had a knowledge of my Heavenly Fathers plan for me, right from the day I was born. I know the church is true, I know Heavenly Father has a plan specific for me, I know my Savior lived on this earth and I know I will return to live with them again one day... as long as I do my part!

How I live my faith

Every morning I try to do my personal scripture study, and say my prayers... if I don't my day just seems to crumple around me. We bless the food at every meal and we are currently teaching my little boy how to say "Amen." He still looks at us and wonders what we are on about, but hey, when's a better time to start! Every Monday we have Family Home Evening, and we choose a different Book of Mormon Story to read and talk about as our lesson, and we always play a game and have some treats! Not to mention singing lots of songs. I am the ward Primary Music leader, so I am constantly looking for new ideas on how to build children's testimonies through music. Sunday is the Lords day, and our family day. We don't watch TV on Sunday, or go out shopping etc. All of my friends know I am a member of the Church.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I have been through many different study regimes for reading the scriptures in my life, and I no matter what approach I always find something different each time I read. The main thing that makes a difference to my reading and what I get from them is the spirit in which I read them. At the moment I seem to get direction on how I should be living my life from day to day to be an example to my son. A year or so ago I was getting direction on how to get through a day when I was feeling like the world was against me. So, I get direction from the scriptures and that is a huge blessing to me!
