Hi I'm Jamie

I'm a suicide survivor, a community volunteer, and a mom. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of 3 who loves to write, reads voraciously, and can't get enough social activity. I volunteer as the recreation chair of my HOA because I love planning events where people can get to know their neighbors, and have a good time. When I was 25, my mom committed suicide, and the world has never looked the same. I have a special place in my heart for those who have lost loved ones to suicide, and write often about our family's healing process on my blog.

Why I am a Mormon

I live the teachings of this church because I see how they strengthen my family. In my time of loss and grief, knowing Jesus Christ could comfort me, and help me comfort my brothers and my sister helped me get up in the morning. Understanding His love for me and His mercy helped me forgive my mom for the choice she made. Being Mormon helps me be the person I want to be, a person I'm proud of.

How I live my faith

I think the best way to live my faith as a mormon is to be a good friend, and be involved in my community. I care about the people I know, and the places I live in. I know Jesus Christ knows them and loves them, too. He lived His life serving, and I try to follow His example. I hope that I can help people feel just a little comforted when they are sad, make them laugh, and even bring them together for a fun-filled afternoon.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith in Christ by praying to God, our Heavenly Father, and by reading His sacred word, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. If we work hard to live the teachings in these books, we will grow closer to Him, and He will help guide us in our lives. Show more Show less
