Hi I'm Allison

I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. I am a graduate student studying Marriage & Family Therapy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just a typical person and consider myself a work-in-progress. And I would say that my passion is helping people progress. For that reason, I'm in school receiving training to become a therapist and a teacher. I generally spend my free time reading and hanging out with friends. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. And I love musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because as I have learned and applied the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have found that I am a freer, happier and better person. I find that as I have questions, that I can pray and study in the scriptures The Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon and that I am lead to answers that help me. I have experienced the fruits of the Spirit as I have studied scriptures, attended church meetings, and listened to the words of church leaders. I am a Mormon because I believe the Mormon church to contain God's truth, His plan for us, and it outlines His laws that allow for our happiness and progress. And that gives my life meaning, purpose and direction.

How I live my faith

Within my personal life, I try to live my faith be remembering my Heavenly Father's love for me, and the love and sacrifice of my Savior Jesus Christ. I pray each day and try to be aware of the ways the Lord blesses me, and the ways that I can do His will. I study the life and teachings of Christ in the scriptures and try to have my thoughts and actions reflect the things I learn. Within my congregation, I attend church meetings each week and try to remember Christ and learn to live how He would want me to live. I participate in "visiting teaching", in which I visit a few other members of the congregation each month and we talk as friends and also have conversations about gospel topics.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Allison
The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture. Like the Bible, it contains the words of God that were revealed to prophets and then recorded and preserved. The subtitle of the Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". I love the Book of Mormon because it is another witness of the reality and divinity of Jesus Christ. There is a part where Jesus Christ, after His crucifixion and resurrection in the Old World, reveals Himself to people on the American continent. Because they had prophets, they knew about Christ and that He was their Savior, even though He would be born, minister and die in another part of the earth. When He visits this people, He descends from Heaven. He is announced by the very voice of God. People are able to see and touch the nailprints in His hands. For those who know about Christ but assume Him to only be a good man or moral teacher or prophet, the Book of Mormon gives evidence that He is in fact the very son of God, that He died for our sins, and that He was resurrected. It's amazing! The prophesies and promises and eye-witness testimonies of miracles among an ancient people strengthen my understanding of and belief in Christ. I like to think of the Book of Mormon as the Bible's long lost brother. They come from the same source and they have the same purpose: to help others know Christ. Show more Show less
