Hi I'm Jim

I am a Construction Manager, Student, Cowboy and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, a father, a brother, son, uncle and friend. I graduated with a dual major in Construction Management and Finance and I am currently working towards an MBA. I also work full time running construction projects. I have accomplished several types of construction projects including commercial buildings, land development, and large custom homes. I love the outdoors especially being in the mountains on a horse and smelling all the wonderful things nature has to offer. I think one of the best things in the world is rain in the mountain with lightning and thunder going off all around you.

Why I am a Mormon

The question "Why I am a Mormon" is quite an interesting one. Mormon is a nickname given to the church based on our book, The Book of Mormon. We believe Mormon was a prophet who lived in the ancient Americas. He compiled a book of writing from other prophets who lived in the ancient America's as well. The book is not about Mormon however, it is about the dealing of the people with their Savior Jesus Christ. The reason I chose to follow the Savior Jesus Christ is because it brings a peace and happiness that is difficult to describe. There is an assurance that the creator of this world, knows who I am, and he wants more than anything for me to be happy. The teachings of Jesus have molded me into who I am as a person today. I try to do my best, to have fun, and to love deeply. I am a Mormon, because I believe Jesus Christ himself is the head of this church. When the teachings are studied to learn about Jesus, I am enlightened, I feel at peace, and I have a quite confidence each day that, "I can do all things through Jesus Christ which strengthens me"

How I live my faith

Being a part of the lds church allows me to participate in various aspects and activities. I have been able to serve (serve because we don't receive a paycheck) as a teacher, as a party planner (Activity chairmen), home teacher (this is an opportunity to stop in to other members house and see how they are doing and share a message). I think more importantly then how I have participated in the church is how I participate in the daily tasks that lead me closer to my Father in Heaven. I truly believe that there is a plan for why we are on this earth. That we have a God (who we call our Heavenly Father), and His plan was for us to come to this earth and to be taught faith, be tested to see if we can be good people, to make covenants with him to do the things he wants us to do, and in the end we are to leave (return home to our Heavenly Father). During this learning experience we can create a family and through his power we can live with our family in heaven too. That is why Jesus Christ came to this world to make it possible to return as a family to our heavenly home to be with our Heavenly Father. That pretty much sums up why I do the things I do on a daily basis. That is why I try to do the things that I feel are good, such as helping my neighbors, being honest, kind, and trying to be like Jesus in all that I say and do. This is a challenge everyday, but in the end I hope to have more wins then loses, and if I can do my very best I know the savior will make up the difference.

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

I believe the church has always been around. In fact I believe that our Heavenly Father wanted to be able to teach us faith, so he established the organization with Adam and Eve, and through the years of the world He has called prophets to teach and share His will, and the plan that He has for us. I believe Jesus Christ was part of the plan as the ancient prophets testified that he would come. When he came he organized his church and shared more of the fathers teachings with us. These teachings have been passed down from generation to generation through the bible, which lead us to the Prophet Joseph Smith. I believe Joseph Smith with the help of our Savior Jesus Christ reestablished, the ancient church with its teachings, practices, and knowledge of the Plan of our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
