Hi I'm Clay

I'm an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force, I'm a proud Husband and Father and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I strive to live a balanced life with Activity, Education, Social and Spiritual. Sports whether organized or not, will draw my attention as I will attempt to learn and do well in each activity. I played High School Football, Baseball and Basketball as well as running on the Cross Country team. I Rock Climb, Snowboard, Snowshoe and Mountain Bike. I also enjoy being an Eagle Scout and an involved Scout Leader. What I really learned in school was that I love to learn new things. I've never been able to specialize in one field of study and I don't know if I ever will want to. Currently I am working on a bachelor's degree in Ecology or Sociology, I haven't decided yet. They both involve large systems that require knowledge in more that one thing I think that is why I have been drawn to these fields. Social Life includes, Family, Friends and all those willing to listen. I might be classified as shy but if you get me going I might be hard to stop. I have four sisters and one brother, my Mom and my Dad who recently passed away. The extended family is growing by the month but we enjoy family reunions. Friends are often involved with the Sport or Subject I am involved with and is a great support for me. And all those reading this, you are the ones willing to listen. Thank you. Spiritually I attend my congregation regularly, I study the scriptures, listen to uplifting music and speakers and pray. These things keep me grounded on a firm foundation of Faith, Love and Optimism.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised by parents who are members of the Church, and so it was part of my upbringing, but I have come to find out for myself why I'm still a Mormon. While serving a mission in Sweden and facing a lot of rejection, I became so confused. I thought I knew what I was teaching was true, but why didn't anyone else want to know the truth. It had brought happiness to me through simplicity and understanding of who I am and why I'm here, why doesn't anyone else want to know. It seemed no one cared and so I started to doubt and needed to know for myself. It was hard and I had many dark days and upsetting thoughts. But there is only one way to know for yourself and that is to read the Book of Mormon and Pray to know the truth of it. I read it all and while reading I would think of who I was and who I really want to be. I thought of what kind of example I would be to others. I searched so deep within that I questioned the existence of my Heavenly Father. By the end of reading the book I was truly at square one, I felt like I was just understanding for the first time. When I finished reading it was time. I acted in Faith by praying to a God I didn't know for sure was there and I asked two things: Is the Book of Mormon true, and is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the true church on the Earth. I asked and I received my answer with an overwhelming rush of chills come over my body and as if a voice told me it is true, and when I began to ask about the Church the same feeling stopped me before I could finish and I knew that all that I was taught from my earliest years in the church was right and pleasing to Heavenly Father. I know this Church to be true and I have been building my testimony from square one ever since I found out for myself. With Faith I have found that Christ is the Son of God and by him all can return to Heaven if we follow his teachings and examples, and as we keep covenants we have entered in with him by proper authority of his Priesthood only found in his Church of Latter Days.

How I live my faith

Living my faith includes all the things "About Me" but doing them with a Hope in Christ. All that I do, I try and include those with me to feel the confidence that all things are possible. I have a firm Hope that we can do all things which are expedient for us, and this belief can attribute to my optimism in living. I try and share this optimism by being glad to serve others or to show integrity by obedience to the principles I believe in like the Word of Wisdom or the Law of Chastity. I especially like to teach principles of the Gospel. I have a fire within me that pushes me to share the Gospel. I try and find ways to teach not only by my example, but when issues are discussed at work, school or play by sharing testimony. I have had a fear of sounding "preachy" but I have overcome that by love for others and a love for the Truth. When others know you are saying these things because you care about them, they will listen more intently. I especially hope to share this Hope with my Wife and Daughter. I want them to know that my testimony in Jesus Christ is unwavering and that they too can learn and do great things and share in the Joy I have in my life through the blessings of the Lord. I live my Faith by sharing my Hope in Christ by being an example in obedience and a bearer of Truth.

What is the priesthood?

Clay
The Priesthood is the authority to act in the name of God. Only through its power can we make covenants with our Heavenly Father through Priesthood Ordinances like Baptism. The Priesthood can also refer to the men of the Church, because this authority is delegated only to the men, or the Leaders of the Church as they hold Keys to the Priesthood. Show more Show less
