Hi I'm Greg Soter

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife, Kate, and I have been married for over 47 years. We're pleased to be the parents of six children, and 18 grandchildren. I'm still working in the advertising agency business after 45 years, and enjoy my "hobby job" as a corporate pilot and flight instructor. Aviation is one of my passions. But as much as I enjoy it, I put it far behind my priorities as a husband, father, grandfather--our grandchildren mostly call me "papa"--and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

Earlier in my life, I would have told you I was a Mormon primarily because my mother was a Mormon, and she raised me to share her beliefs. When I was 19 years old, I was blessed with a wonderful, very sacred experience. In it, the Holy Ghost whispered powerfully to me that the principles I had been taught--and had accepted on a somewhat adolescent level to that point in my life--were true. I began to view those principles in a much more mature manner than I'd ever understood them before. My testimony that had its roots in my mother's beliefs matured and grew immensely to become a much more adult belief in, understanding, and acceptance of the Savior's teachings. It was a deep, wonderful experience. One I'll always remember and treasure. I'm grateful to have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that has endured and grown since that experience 50 years ago. Anyone who seeks a similar experience can surely have one of their own. The Lord has promised it to each of us individually.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to obey the Savior's commandments, and His will for us. Those commandments begin with the basic ten that were delivered to Moses as recounted in the Old Testament. They are still foundational and underlie all the other commandments. God has provided us with much additional guidance since then, revealed by other Old Testament prophets, by Jesus Christ during his ministry on earth, and by prophets since. He has not left us in the dark. I can best live my faith by making myself aware of the commandments and guidance provided to us, and to make my best efforts to comply with what our Father in Heaven has asked us to do.
