Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in an agnostic home. The gospel of Jesus Christ has made me a better husband, father, friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

What can I say, I'm just a normal guy. I have a wife and four kids that I love dearly. I enjoy spending time with the family, whether it's lounging downstairs watching a movie, or going to a school concert or play. I'm a mechanical engineer by profession and enjoy my job. I enjoy hiking and camping and genuinely love the outdoors. One of these days I'll get used to the rain here in the pacific northwest and get out to the mountains on more than just the six sunny days a year.

Why I am a Mormon

Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? What happens to all those people who didn't have a chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and be baptized while they lived on this earth? Why doesn't God speak to his children through prophets like he did in ancient times? The answers to questions like these are why I became a Mormon. The gospel of Jesus Christ truly has been restored and with it all the truths that have been lost for so long. I lived with my Heavenly Father before I came here to earth. I am here to develop faith, find God in my life, and pursue happiness as God intended for his children. I hope to live with God again and I know that everyone who has ever lived on this earth will have the same opportunity. And God DOES speak to his children today through the mouths of his Holy Prophets. I am a Mormon because the fullness of truth is found in this church and the answers to all of my questions are found here in this church. But most of all, I am a Mormon because as I follow the prophet and my Lord Jesus Christ I am a better husband, father, friend, and person.

How I live my faith

I've had so many different opportunities to serve the Lord in this church and I've loved each one of them. Some of my favorite experiences have been working with the youth and the Boy Scouts. I think those have been my favorite because I'm a big kid myself. Plus, I got to go hiking and camping a lot which was awesome. To me, life is about finding the good in the people we meet and the experiences we have. There's something to be learned in all our experiences. There's a scripture in the Book of Mormon that says "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy." (2 Nephi 2:25). I really believe this and I'm convinced that a very large part of finding this joy has to do with my attitude. I don't know why the Lord gives me trials and challenges or why life can be so hard sometimes. But I do know that He is in control and “that all these things shall give [me] experience, and shall be for [my] good” (D&C 122:7). When I ask for it, the Lord will give me the strength to deal with my problems. And I know that although he doesn’t always remove my burdens, He is always by my side to carry me when the weight is too much.
