Hi I'm Jim Chandler

I grew up in Paola, Kansas. I have been married to the most wonderful lady for 42 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Jim and I currently live in the rural area of southern Miami County, Kansas. I work at the General Motors automotive facility in Kansas City, KS as an electrician. My favorite hobby is classic and antique car restoration and my other interests are wide and varied. I love serving in my Church and in the community, anywhere I can help my fellow man. At the age of 61, I am a father of four adult children and a grandfather to 9 with future grandchildren on the way. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young man of 21 I had many struggles in life, marriage, and many other questions that I needed help with. We lived in a duplex house with wonderful neighbors who were recent converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were the ones who introduced us to the missionaries. The first time we attended Church with our friends was Fast and Testimony meeting. This meeting is held on the first Sunday of each month and those who wish can come forward and bear their testimony about God and Christ and the importance of the Gospel in their lives. To see so many both young and old share their deep and personal feelings of what the Gospel has done for them in their lives was incredible. I could not deny what I felt and soon after my wife and I were baptized. I have served in many different callings. The one in which I grew the most spiritually was that of Branch President. Here I learned to love others as Christ loves us. Through prayer and much scripture study I experienced what it was like to help lead others along the pathway that leads back to the presence of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of the Gospel I have learned how to be a good father and a better husband. My marriage has become something which is very sacred and joyful. Today, my life is full of joy because of what the Lord has done for me and because of the things that I am taught daily in His Church. I have learned the joy of living more Christlike each day. This is Why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Mission Leader in our branch and greatly enjoy teaching and sharing the Gospel with my family and friends. I love to work with the youth at Scout camp and at Young Women's camp or any other activities that I can be involved in that are with the youth of the Church. I have spent many great hours planning youth temple trips and helped with planning service activities for other other organizations in the Church. Home teaching is a great opportunity as well. This is a great responsibility for brethren in the Church to visit families to check on their spiritual and temporal well being. We are able to reach out to each other through this calling and lift each other in time of need. Through the Church I have also had the opportunity of serving in our community during times following natural disasters such as floods, tornadoes and severe storms. I have learned what a blessing it is to be able to serve others and also how to bless others through service to them in time of need. I am grateful for the Lord's influence in my life.
