Hi I'm Terri

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music and it is a big part of who I am. I graduated from college at the age of 44 with a my Bachelor's of Music Education. I have sung in choirs since I was 6 years old and absolutely love directing church choirs. I have had a voice/piano studio for over 6 years now and really love to teach music. My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in January of 2012 -- what a mile stone for us! We have six children ranging from 17 - 29. Three of my children are married and so I get to enjoy my 5 grandchildren with 2 more due this year. Being a grandparent can be very rewarding. I love to read romance books that are clean and inspiring. Some of my favorite books are "Gone with the Wind;" "Little Women;" and the Harry Potter series. I love to work in my flower garden each spring and enjoy watching the flowers grow and all of the bright colors and they blossom through the summer months. I have lived in 4 different sates: California (where I was born); Utah (while my husband went to BYU); Arizona (I still miss the desert) and currently live in Missouri which I have grown fond of but it did take a while. I am very active in my church. I love working with the youth and the children.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! The gospel teaches us to serve each other and care for each other, especially our families and the people of our communties. The gospel also teaches us about our eternal families and how we can be with them for the eternities. The Gospel has helped me to grown in so many ways as I share my talents with other people. I have instant 'family' wherever I go in this world when I am visiting a ward or move into a new ward. I love the knowledge I have that Prophets receive revelation for our times -- it makes no since that God would talk to his people thousands of years ago and not talk to us now. I know he is a loving God and loves all of his children and wants them to be happy. Our church is not a stand around and talk about it church. We get very involved when people need assistance and I strive every day to become more like Christ so that I can live a good life and be happy.

How I live my faith

Currently I am the Relief Society President (our women's organization) which involves helping the women in our church family to learn to help each other and to grow to know and love each other and live the basic principles. We work together to learn skills that will help us to better help our families and the community we live in. I have worked in the Primary with the children ages 18 months to 11 years old -- I loved working with the children and still appreciate the hugs they give me when they see me in the halls at church. I was able to teach very basic gospel principles that helped the children to grow in their knowledge that they are loved very much by our Heavenly Father. I have also worked with the young women in our church ages 12 -18 by going to girls camp for several years -- this has often been a better experience that I thought it would be. The girls are always so much more resilient that I am! I have also worked with them by teaching them new skills likes sewing, cooking, how to set up a budget, how to set goals, researching family trees, etc.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

I have had two sons that served missions and currently one that is serving in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. The sacrifice is great but the rewards are endless. My husband and I are looking forward to serving a mission together after he retires. Show more Show less
