Hi I'm John

I'm a convert, I served a mission. I'm a Mormon,

About Me

Hello to all the fellow viewers here! I'm just your average guy who loves just the simple things: Cheeseburgers, sports and holidays. I was born in the northern part of CA but was raised in TN. I grew up a southern baptist! After graduating in TN I moved to Southern CA. Shortly after being here I joined LDS church. About a year later I went on a mission! Ciudad de Mexico! I had the privilege of learning a new language and I almost use it everyday. I am very much into music and listen to it every single day and I wish I could play an instrument.. So sometimes you'll catch me on the piano pushing random keys imaging myself being a pro. I also love to travel. I been flying in airplanes almost my entire life. I have a list of places I would love to see, for example: Italy, New Zealand, walk the Great Wall of China, Egypt. The list really goes on. I eventually would love to do some of these things with my family when that day comes. I am grateful for the amazing life that the Lord has blessed me with.

Why I am a Mormon

I decided to become Mormon because of the testimony that I received from my Heavenly Father that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints IS true and that the Book of Mormon IS another testimony of Jesus Christ. Being a member for 3 years now that testimony has immensely grown. When I was "investigating" the church back in 2008 I remembered all the questions I had for the missionaries. Without any hesitation these two Elders humbly answered each and every one of them. It just started making sense to me. I always knew I had a purpose in this life but those two missionaries really helped me truly understand more about Heavenly Father's plan. What really captivated me though was that it just all made sense. It felt like all the pieces of that 1000 puzzle board was properly put together, that all the shattered pieces of glass had been found and was restored perfectly back together... and it is so beautiful. My testimony has grown in so many ways and it has truly become a part of my life. I read the Book of Mormon daily and every time that I do I am reassured by the spirit of God that every word of it is true. I have lived a happier life since being a member and I have met others who have had the same experience as I have. I think it is the greatest thing in the world to hear someone else's testimony of this Gospel and how its made them grow and the impact it has made on them. I testify of the divinity of this Gospel and how it can bless someones life and how it can provide infinite amounts of blessings. I testify that God lives and he knows each and every one of us, personally. I have seen the Lord's hand in my life and he has and still is shaping me into a good man. I love this gospel and this is why I'm Mormon.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith is by my actions. Whether it be from helping out the church coaching a softball team, helping organizing events for the young adults or by just simply sharing the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. In the scriptures it tells us "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God". When I was growing up, I went to a little private baptist school and there was this sign "do unto others as you would have them done unto you". I read that almost everyday for my 6th and 7th grade year. I have always firmly believed that, even before being a member of the church. My mom would also tell me that quote as well. In fact, she gave me this tiny golden ball when I was a kid and it was written around the ball with those exact words. My mother, who isn't a member, has really helped my entire life to stand by what I believe, be the leader, and always be kind. This is how I live by my faith. "Faith without works is dead" James 2:20

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

John
Yes! Most most most definitely did Jesus appear in North America. Ponder this for a minute... Doesn't Jesus love all of his people? When he was here on the earth wouldn't you think he would want to see everybody? Or better yet, if you were on the earth at the time of the Lord's era wouldn't you want him to come see you? He taught so many people on the other side but what about you? Don't you deserve to hear what they heard? Of course you do and He knew that. In the book of John, chapter 10 verses 14-16, the Lord is referring to us as sheep. "I know my sheep.... I lay down my life for my sheep.... and other sheep I have which are not of this fold.. they shall hear my voice". In the Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi chapter 11, it is beautifully written by the prophet Nephi about his appearance in North America. I encourage you to pray about this and ask Heavenly Father if this is true and I promise the Lord will answer that prayer. Show more Show less
