Hi I'm Tracy

I love good movies, good books, and good food. I love to see the world and spend time with friends and family. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love a good story and can't resist buying a book or two every time I go into Barnes and Nobles. I could eat chips and salsa all day long. Singing is one of my greatest joys. I love the mountains and hiking and swimming and just being outside in the sunshine. And most of all, I love spending time with the people I love and care about.

Why I am a Mormon

Sometimes I wonder what motivates me to be a Mormon or who would I be if I wasn't a Mormon. But every time I think about it, I'm filled with this amazing love for my Savior and the Book of Mormon. I am a Mormon because I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church restored on the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. As I've prayed to know if these things are true, God answered that they are. I'm a Mormon because I love the person I am as I live the moral standards of the church. I feel like I'm a better person than I would be otherwise and I feel like my relationship with God is stronger. Have I ever had questions? Sure. But the thing about God is that He answers all of our prayers. When I want to understand something better, I study it out in the scriptures and pray about it and eventually I receive an answer.

How I live my faith

Faith isn't about big actions that everyone can see. It's about kindness to family and roommates. It's about looking for opportunities to serve others. It's about acting as Christ would act. I live my faith by studying the Bible and Book of Mormon each day and then getting up and applying the things I learn.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

In the scriptures we learn that baptism is an essential step in attaining eternal life. It was so important that our Savior Jesus Christ, who was perfect and had no need of a remission of sins, was baptised. However, there are many good people who have lived throughout the centuries that did not have the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ and accept him through baptism. Rather than being damned to hell, by completing baptisms in their name they are given the opportunity to accept Christ through baptism and therefore qualify for eternal life. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Bible was written by prophets of God and testifies of the coming of Jesus Christ and his divine mission. It was origianally written thousands of years ago, transcriped multiple times, and then translated into many languages. During this process, a word here or a phrase there were lost. Although it is a wonderful tool for learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ and learning about his ministry here on the earth, because of these lost pieces, it no longer offers a complete picture of his gospel. The Book of Mormon was also written by prophets of God and testifies of the coming of Jesus Christ and his divine mission. These prophets in Ancient America wrote of their prophecies and experiences just as the prophets of the Bible. However, rather than being transcribed and translated by scholars it was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith through the power of God. The prophet Joseph Smith was instructed on where to find the plates on which the accounts of the prophets were recorded by a heavenly messenger named Moroni, one of the prophets who wrote portions of the Book of Mormon.
