Hi I'm Jim

I'm from Virginia. I'm an international business leader. I believe in Jesus Christ and try to follow His teachings.

About Me

I am married and have five wonderful children. I am an international lawyer and business leader. I speak Arabic, English and Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

My membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped me build a closer, stronger relationship with Jesus Christ, through whom we are saved. Through my membership in His church, I have come to understand how salvation works -- what I need to do and what the Lord does. The Church has taught me to really love and understand the scriptures and to use them as a means of building my faith in Christ. Because it is organized in the manner Christ organized His church in primitive times, I am blessed and my family is blessed to sit at the feet of modern-day apostles and prophets, who bear a special testimony of the risen Christ, as did the apostles and prophets of old. All of these things have helped me to understand and answer key questions about Christ and His atonement. My membership in the Church has helped me to come unto Christ, to place my faith and trust in Him. It has provided me with opportunities to serve and associate with others who desire to follow Christ. What a remarkable thing it is to associate with my brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. I travel a lot and wherever I go I find those with whom I share the testimony of the Savior and Redeemer. Why am I a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Because through my membership in the Church, I have come to have faith in Christ, hope in His salvation, and love for those around me. My membership in the Church has helped me to me more like the person I want to be, more like my own best self, and shows me how to be better still by following the teachings Christ and His apostles. I love it.

How I live my faith

I try to live the gospel in a simple way. I endeavor to be honest with myself. I try to keep the commandments, but know that I am inadequate and need the Lord's help. I place my faith in Jesus Christ. I trust in the sufficiency of His grace and mercy. I let the brightness of the hope that comes trying to follow Him shine forth. I try to show love for all around me, the kind of love that Jesus Christ has shown to me -- unconditional love. I do not always succeed, but I try. As a father, I teach the gospel to my children. Together with my wife, we work to create a home environment in which my children know that they are loved and in which they have examples and experiences that help them understand what it means to be joyful followers of Christ. I am so grateful for my wife, who is a wonderful example of joyful discipleship. Together, we look forward to His second coming with anticipation and teach our children to do the same.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Jim
There is not one right answer to this question. I have traveled the globe and can report that we are not all the same, except in that we share in the testimony of Christ and of His restored gospel. Sure, we all try to pray frequently, to follow the commandments, to be good citizens and neighbors, to live according to a high moral standard, to abstain from coffee, tea, tobacco, drugs and the like. But we are not all the same. We come from so many walks of life, so many cultures, so many different places that answering this question is hard. Being a member of the Church amplifies my individuality, it does not diminish it. As Christ promised, the truth sets me free and makes it possible for me to be who I really am. Show more Show less
