Hi I'm Dorothy

I'm a wife and avid movie buff from Los Angeles, CA and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an accounts payable clerk and happy wife. My husband and I enjoy being outside together and just spending time together in general.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it's God's church. Also because it makes me so happy to know where I came from before I lived on this Earth and where I will go after. The peace that the gospel brings into my life is nothing like anything else I've found. I love the church and the gospel.

How I live my faith

I try to be the best me I can be and try to do what God wants me to do. I try to serve others around me.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Dorothy
We generally dress in our nicer clothing for church (Men is Suits or white shirts and ties, women is skirts or dresses). We generally celebrate the Christian holidays and national holidays, though we can celebrate others if we so choose. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Dorothy
Heavenly Father has an order to things and He gives each of us certain jobs/ responsibilities. Men hold the priesthood because that is their responsibility. Women have other responsibilities such as bearing and nurturing children and leading other programs in the church, such as the society for women (The Relief Society: one of the oldest women's organizations in the world), the Primary ( Sunday classes for children) and the Young Women's organization ( for girls ranging in age from 12 to 18). Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Dorothy
Because God is just. He wants all of His children to be able to have the blessings of baptism. Some of His children didn't have that opportunity while they were alive, so He made a way for us to be able to help them. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Dorothy
A ward is a group of people living in a certain geographical area. A branch is almost the same, but it generally has fewer members in it. A stake is made up of 5 or 6 wards. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

Dorothy
Mormon churches are were we go to worship. Temples are where we go to make sacred covenant with the Lord. In order to enter a temple, one must prepare themselves spiritually first, but EVERYONE is welcome in a church! Show more Show less
