Hi I'm Greg

I'm a convert to the LDS Church. My family and I live in the United States.

About Me

I'm a father of six, and a grandfather of seven. Needless to say, it gets quite noisy when we're all together. However, it's a lot of fun to enjoy family gatherings. I've been a teacher for the Church's educational system for the past twenty-nine years. Teenagers and Young Adults keep me busy and youthful (see photo). I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, camping, fishing, gardening, and grilling on the barbeque. My formal education is in Spanish and Educational Psychology.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the LDS church when I was sixteen years old. My parents were both raised in different Christian religions. After attending many churches, I was introduced to the Mormon faith by a high school friend. He gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon, and invited me to listen to the missionaries. I accepted the invitation, and that's where things began to open up for me. Their message was everything I'd ever believed about God, but had never been taught. It felt like "coming home". The peace which accompanied their lessons led me to accept baptism and confirmation to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Let me here testify to any and all that what I felt as I received that ordinance was a personal witness from God that this was indeed His true church, that He was pleased with my decision to become a member of it, and that I was to share what I had been given. I know that whosoever will sincerely desire to know if this is the true church of Jesus Christ, can receive direct answer to his or her prayers to our Heavenly Father. If we are willing to learn in God's way, He will answer us.

How I live my faith

Each week, I have the opprtunity to teach the adult Sunday School class. They're almost as lively as the youth! Although I'm involved in teaching the Gospel on a daily basis, it's truly an inexhaustible resource of practical and noble principles and truths. I enjoy discovering with others how eternal truth applies to our daily lives, and provides the solutions to life's challenges. It's motivating to discuss and work with others to live in harmony with the Savior's teachings.

What is being a Mormon like?

Greg
Being a member of this church is like belonging to an incredibly large extended family. What I mean is that you can travel all over the world and, with very few exceptions, be able to find congregations of church members who will genuinely welcome you, and share the same beliefs and values. The doctrines taught in Bangkok are the same as those taught in Seattle, Guadalajara, and Moscow, etc. The sociality is based on living the examples of the Savior. We serve together, respect each other, and desire to be helpful to all of Heavenly Father's children. We strive to exemplify the Golden Rule in our lives, families, and church. Show more Show less
