Hi I'm Sue

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi , I was born and have lived most of my life in rural Nevada. I went to College . I got my Education degree in Elementary and Special Education. I met my husband in these classes and we got married . I have 2 sisters and 5 brothers. I am currently a mom of 5 kids. I have two girls and three boys. My husband is a Principal at a local Charter Middle School and High School. I taught school when we were first married for two years but once we started our family we both felt it was most important for me to stay home and be a full time mom. This decision has really blessed our family. Besides my love for my family I have a love for dogs and animals. I enjoy playing the piano. I taught piano for 4 years . I also like scrap-booking on the computer. I'm not into all the time and money it takes to cut and paste and do it the old fashioned way. If I had my own scrap-booking space and the time I might enjoy it more. But the computer way works for me and it is also fun. I am good at making bread. It's taken years of practice but I can say I make some pretty good bread and rolls. I save a lot of money by making my own bread. It tastes a whole lot better too. I love the outdoors. Hiking, camping, bike riding, walking, and working in my yard during the spring and fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I was baptized when I was eight years old. I had a desire as a child to do what was right. When I was a little girl my parents taught me to pray. I always felt like I could talk to my Heavenly Father no matter what was going on in my life. As I got older I knew I needed to find out for myself if all the things I've been learning in church as a child was true. When I went off to college it was the first time I was on my own without my parent's influence. I actually stopped praying and reading my scriptures regularly because I was embarrassed to do it in front of my room mate. Slowly my life seemed to fall apart for me. I started doubting everything I was taught and honestly I didn't know what was true anymore. I was challenged by my religious instructor to read 3rd Nephi in the Book of Mormon which tells the account of the Savior's visit to America. So I did. As I read , I felt at peace but when I had to stop and do other things like school work or what ever I felt very irritated . But I committed to read so when I did, I felt at peace again. It took me about a week or two to finish the book. When I was done I knelt and prayed with all of my heart to know if the Book of Mormon was true and If Joseph Smith was really a prophet of God. I felt the spirit tell me "Yes, You have always known". I felt the most wonderful warm feeling fill my body from head to toe. I have never doubted again. In fact I committed to do all I could to be a more faithful disciple of Christ. I later served a mission which helped my testimony grow even more.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day just by taking care of my kids and family. I also am a visiting teacher which means I have women in my congregation assigned to me to look out for. I'v been assigned a companion and we together go and visit the ladies on our list. Usually about 3 or 4 ladies. We make an appointment with them and we visit them in their home and leave them with a spiritual message and make sure their needs are taken care of. We go once every month. Sometimes we find opportunities to serve these ladies. Maybe they are sick or just had a baby and need some food brought in . I'm also a den leader for the 8 year old Cub Scouts. We meet each week and I help them to be young men who do their duty to God and their Country and who help other people and obey the laws of the pack. I enjoy going to church each week with my family. I always try to be available to help where I'm needed. I begin each day on my knees and I try to do the best that I can be an instrument in God's hands. I live one day at a time doing the best that I can to be a good wife a good mom, and a good friend.
