Hi I'm Ben

Born in New Zealand. Lived in Australia since I was 12. Mormon mission to Fiji.

About Me

I'm a college student figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life. Right now I am thinking of going into corporate training. I enjoy music, singing and guitar. I love any kind of sports but particularly basketball and touch rugby. I love spending time with friends and family. Most of my family including my two cute nieces are back in Australia so I miss them!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church and I always believed that what my parents taught me was true. However serving a Mormon mission caused me to question if I really believed the Church's teachings because I had to defend them everyday. As I prayed again at that time to know if the Book of Mormon was true and whether this is Christ's true Church upon the earth, I received a peaceful feeling confirming to me that these things were true. If I wasn't a member of this Church there are plenty of other things I could be doing with my time, but I know the gospel brings happiness into my life that greatly outweighs these other pursuits. I know that this is Christ's Church established again upon the earth, that Joseph Smith was called to be His prophet and that by the power of God, Joseph translated the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know these things are true because I have prayed and found out for myself. As I have continued to read this book along with the Bible and other scripture, I have had many subsequent confirmations that God really does live and care about us in a personal way. Most dear to me is the knowledge that families can live together after this life.

How I live my faith

I just try to live the things the gospel teaches. The gospel is about blessing the lives of all those around us and keeping ourselves free from things in this world that would limit our happiness and potentially ruin our relationships with family and friends. As we live the gospel we build our relationship with God and recognize His hand in our lives. In the church I have filled various volunteer assignments such as teaching youth and young adults, planning activities for church members, services projects etc.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Ben
Christ says in the Bible in John 7:17 that if we want to know if God's teachings are true, we have to try them out. The Lord challenges us in the book of Malachi to prove Him - to follow his words and see if He blesses us. Following Christ's teachings requires faith, meaning that we will have to act even when we do not understand the reasons why nor see the logic in it. But the promise is that if we try the experiment and follow God's teachings that we will learn for ourselves whether they are true, because we will see the results in our lives. Simply said, if you want to know if the Church is true, live by its teachings and you will find, as I have, that you will receive blessings for your family, school, work and every aspect of your life. Read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it's true. Try living the Church's teachings and see how your life changes. Don't get discouraged if you don't see results immediately. Give the experiment time to work. You have nothing to lose. See if it works. I can promise you it does. Show more Show less
