Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a college student, a mother of three, and I've been happily married to my best friend for over 20 years. I love my family.

About Me

I am a mother of three and have enjoyed over 20 years of marriage to my husband (who joined the church as a youth and had served a mission for our church before I met him.) I am working hard toward completing my Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Family Studies. It has been a long process because of the time I took off from school in my early years of marriage and while my children were young.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always felt the love of my Heavenly Father in my life. I was blessed to grow up with lots of opportunities to participate in the church. As a youth I had questions and doubts about what to believe, but experience taught me that there was greater happiness through living the gospel than in any other way. Every time I have tested this, I have always found it to be true. It is very hard to describe the magnitude of the blessings I receive each time I make a good choice. Sometimes the blessings are not immediately apparent, but they always come without fail, and eventually I realize how much more I receive when I give.

How I live my faith

I currently teach five and six-year old children in Primary every Sunday. Some of the children in our class are also members of the Marshallese Olympic Branch--their families have come to the U.S. from the Marshall Islands. We also have a very sweet and energetic child with Downs Syndrome in our class. I am so impressed with the way these children love and serve each other. I always feel the spirit of our Savior when I am with them. I am also a Visiting Teacher with four Sisters that I visit each month with my assigned partner. All of the sisters we visit are a blessing in our lives. We learn a lot as we serve them together. I also try to keep my family as my very first priority at all times. I believe that motherhood is a sacred calling and a privilege, as is marriage. It is a lot of work, but worth the effort. We have found that great blessings continue to come to us as we try our best to hold daily family prayer and scripture study. We also find joy in Temple service and sharing the gospel with others. Striving to live the gospel of Jesus Christ has truly enriched and protected our family and brought us through hard times as well as happy times.
