Hi I'm Marshall

I grew up on a farm. I am a swimmer. I like to travel and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of four children in a family with very strong personalities. I love it. I grew up on a farm, which shaped a lot of what I have become. I love living in the country and being close nature. A big part of my life while I was growing up was swimming. I swam from when I was nine until I was eighteen and I love being in the water. I remember the long days of practice and the many times I just wanted to give up either from fatigue or from not doing very well in competition, but sticking with swimming has really helped me grow as a person and as a child of God. After many years of swimming I finally stopped and went to college for a year. I really loved school, friends and the activities that I was a part of in college. I am currently studying accounting and it is awesome. Yes, I know that sounds nerdy but I don't care because life is just better when debits equal credits. I am very grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me in life. I know that God wants me to be happy and I am grateful for his love and help that he shows us to help us.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I grew up in the Church and when I was little I didn't really know anything other than going to church and being a part of the church. My parents did a wonderful job at teaching me about Christ and they were very fundamental in helping me gain a testimony of the reality of Jesus Christ. I grew up going to school and seeing all of the bad things that go on in the world and I saw how much it helped me by going to church and how much the gospel can bless people in their lives. My grandpa always say that "the best way to help others is by giving them the gospel" and I agree with him completely. I saw the difference it made in people's lives by living the gospel and the Church's standards. Those who lived by the gospel were happy while those who didn't sort of just went through life and pretended like they were happy. The more I prayed in my life and the more that I read from the scriptures, especially from the Book of Mormon, I really started to feel God's love in my life and how important it was in my life. I've made mistakes as we all have in life and I really have felt the love of God in my life through repentance. I am so grateful for Christ and how he has made it possible for me to be forgiven of my sins so that I can live with God once again. Without him nothing is possible. I have come to that realization through reading the scriptures, prayer, and repenting of my mistakes in life. I love my Savior and will forever be grateful for him. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

While growing up I lived my faith mostly by going to church and telling people about what I believe. I was just like any other person but I tried my best to live the way that my Heavenly Father wants me to. Right now I am living my faith my serving Jesus Christ by serving a mission in North Carolina. I am one of those guys that everyone sees on the side of the road riding their bikes in the heat, rain and snow. I love being a missionary. As missionaries we teach people about Jesus Christ and how he has restored his church through a prophet Joseph Smith and helping them make promises with God through baptism. My favorite thing about being a missionary is the people that I meet. It's wonderful to meet so many great people and to teach them about Jesus Christ. My favorite thing is the smile that people get as they accept Christ's teachings and the happiness that they find. It's a wonderful thing. I have never done something as hard as this but it's been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. I am extremely grateful to my Heavenly Father for the opportunity that I have to serve him and help his children come to him.
