Hi I'm Samantha

I'm a College Student; Scientist; Teacher and a Missionary. I love playing sports and having fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the church. I grew up Southern Baptist with a strong relationship with my Father in Heaven. I joined the church my Sophmore year in college. I am studying Biological Sciences and Science Education at my local university. I am currently taking a 18 month break and serving a mission on a historic church site! I love my family. My parents divorced when I was 3 years old. I am an only child but have brothers and sisters through my parents remarrying. I love to play sports and be active!

Why I am a Mormon

Our Heavely Father loves us SO much that he wants everyone of his children to return home to him. He has given us a plan that allows us to do that. Heavenly Father is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. That is why we have a prophet on the Earth today. That is why the same Church that Jesus Christ organized has been restored to the Earth. When I was in first grade my Mom and I moved down to NC to live with my grandparents after my parents divorce was finalized. My first friend was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We stayed really close friends through school. My junior here of high school one of our close friends joined the Church. A couple years later my convert friend got married in the temple. Through being her maid of honor questions started coming to my mind about why was it so important to get married in the temple, her parents couldn't be there. The testimony of my two friends spoke volumes through their examples. At her wedding reception I ran into a guy friend I new in high school who had just gotten back from a mission a couple months ago. We deceided to hang out to catch up and while I was over his house I felt compelled to ask him to do his "missionary thing". He shared with me the precious truths of the restored Church of Jesus Christ! We read from the Book of Mormon. Tears came to my eyes; I felt the Spirit really strong testifying to me of the truthfulness of this testiment of Jesus Christ. Miracles do happen. While meeting with the missionaries questions I've pondered about for years where answered. Each principle they taught was a different puzzle piece that I was missing. Through this restored gospel of Jesus Christ the puzzle turns into a map that will lead us back to our Father in Heaven who loves us so much he gave us his only begotten son to atone for all of our sins and disappoints. Jesus Christ is our advict and wants that personal relationship with us that will bring us happiness we never knew existed.

How I live my faith

In the 19 months that I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints I've served as Sunday school teacher; organized first friday activities for my university ward and now am currently a full time missionary. Our Heavenly Father calls us to do the things he knows we have the ability to touch other people's lives. We came to Earth to grow and to learn. One of the greatest feelings we come to know at church is that we are a family, that we are all in this together! We all have the same desire to serve God and to return home to Him. :)

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

This is a question that I'm sure pretty much everyone has thought of at least once. We are here on this Earth to prepare to return back to our Heavenly Father. We once lived with God. If you think about your favorite ice cream flavor, now think if that's all the food you ever ate would that still be your favorite food? Would you know any different? I know in this life being separated from God, we are truly able to appreciate Him with all of our struggles and hardships we learn to rely of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Think about how much our Heavenly Father loves us with this ability to choose between right and wrong. He trusts us so much! We also came to this Earth to gain a physical body like we know our Father in Heaven has (only His is perfected). Being children of God we have so much potential to do good, it is up to us to decide from this day forward who will we be an advocate for? Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The only way you know anything is true: study it out and pray about it! God answers the prayers of all who have a sincere heart. We have to follow the answers we get! If God knows we aren't gonna follow those answers why would He answer? We need to take upon ourselves an experiment follow the teachings of Christ, study out his words, and pray. Listen with your heart and God will answer your questions. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jesus Christ is our personal Savior. He is the only begotten son of God! He suffered everything so we could have a chance to return back to our Father in Heaven. It truly amazes me that Jesus Christ literally took upon himself every single one of our sins, but not just our sins, our disappointments and sufferings. Every single bad feeling we have our savior Jesus Christ has felt! He truly is the only one that has empathy for us. It is only through him that we can be made clean from our sins! He overcame death and was resurrected! He literally is the only one that lived the perfect life! It is through his example, following the path He has laid that we can return home to our Father in Heaven! This relationship with our Savior is key! He is the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! He is most loyal friend. Jesus Christ is everything to us! He is everything to me! Show more Show less
